The dissertation thesis with the topic „Simulation Modelling of Electrical Drives for Selected Critical Applications“ focuses on the area of given applications in civil aviation. The selected application that the thesis deals with is an electrically driven and electronically controlled fuel pump supplying fuel to an aviation motor of the APU type. The thesis gives a comprehensive description of the design cycle of the unit and demonstrates implementing all the required critical functions. In the course of the design of the unit modern techniques in mathematical modelling, simulation, verification, monitoring and prediction of the operation status of airborne equipment were uses to the utmost extent. The purpose of these was to show the suitability of their application with regard to decreasing design time and cost, increasing lifetime and servicing intervals, as well as increasing user comfort and decreasing price. At the same time the required reliability was to be kept. The thesis also aims to prove and verify the suitability of using electronically commutated dc motors in critical applications in civil aviation. To reach this goal, it is necessary to design a robust drive control which would meet the given reliability requirements.

Radar antenna diagnostic module
Pacner, Petr ; Urbanec, Tomáš (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
Faults like open and short circuit in electrical wirings pose a significant threat on functionality of the whole application. This thesis describes conceptual design of a fault identification module for coaxial cables between transmitter and antenna in radar systems, and focuses on faults localization. The main goal is to select from existing a suitable method for such faults analysis and create a demonstration module serving as a basis for further development. This contains theory regarding basic classification of wiring faults and principles of frequently used detection methods including some of their prameters, advantages and disadvantages which altogether build a foundation for method selection. The chosen method is analyzed by simulations and further on laboratory equipment controlled by a set of computer applications. In the end the chosen method is implemented on a development kit, which is then used for measurements of wire sample.

Dohodilová, Klára
The bachelor thesis entitled "Assessment of the effectiveness of different types of bits for the use of horses in English horse riding" focuses on the types of bridles in English horse riding and a description of the effect of various bits on a horse's mouth. Available professional literature was used during processing. The first part of the work points to the history of bridling and there are also mentioned bits used in the past. Attention is also paid to the characteristics of basic types of nosebands, types and division of bits currently used are also described. This work includes a description of the correct method for choosing a suitable bit for horse. The possible consequences of an incorrect bit are also not neglected. A short description of bitless bridles appears here. The work summarizes the rules for bridling in Olympic disciplines of equestrian sport, which are dressage, show jumping and eventing.
International investment arbitraion in selected EU Member States
Kiselyová, Miriama ; Šturma, Pavel (advisor) ; Chovancová, Katarína (referee) ; Balaš, Vladimír (referee)
International investment arbitraion in selected EU Member States Abstract This dissertation describes and analyzes the state of international investment arbitrations against selected EU Member States: the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Romania. The goal is to gain an overview of the current status of ongoing and completed arbitrations, the background of the dispute and its causes, BIT breach sued/found, compensations sued/awarded and the outcome of the dispute (including annulment proceedings and possibly proceedings before the CJ EU), as well as using the lessons learned in further practice, either in BIT negotiation or in arbitrations. The first chapter briefly explains what international arbitration is and briefly defines selected arbitration rules. Next, the chapter explains what international investment agreements are, what their purpose is and what their usual content is. Subsequently, the content of modern investment agreements is briefly described. The chapter further briefly recalls the accession process of the Slovak Republic to the EU, analyzes the principle of priority of EU law not only over national but also international law, defines the line of argumentation of the so-called intra EU BIT objections of the Slovak Republic in investment arbitrations, a brief analysis...
The Influence of EU Common Investment Policy on the System of International Investment Law
Svoboda, Ondřej ; Lipovský, Milan (referee)
1 The Influence of EU Common Investment Policy on the System of International Investment Law Abstract Extending exclusive European Union (EU) competence to foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Lisbon Treaty has had profound implications. The EU began to develop its own investment policy, including negotiating either international investment agreements or comprehensive trade and investment agreements with third parties. Taking into account the magnitude of the EU economy and the fact that EU Member States have concluded almost 1 400 bilateral investment treaties (BITs) out of roughly 3 300 in force worldwide, the potential of European influence over the system of international investment, based principally on BITs, is enormous. The aim of this dissertation is to assess how and in which way the new EU competence changes the system. The EU investment policy has developed a specific approach towards investment protection and investment dispute mechanism which does not envision content declared at its beginning. According to initial documents such as the European Commission's Communication Towards a comprehensive European international investment policy, the Union should have followed the available best practices of the Member States. Nevertheless, during the first bilateral negotiations with Canada and...
The Umbrella Clause in investment disputes
Šindelář, Jakub ; Balaš, Vladimír (advisor) ; Šturma, Pavel (referee)
"Umbrella Clause" in investment disputes The diploma thesis deals with the topic of the so-called umbrella clause, a provision that can be often encountered in the bilateral investment treaties. The aim of the thesis is to identify and assess individual interpretation issues that are faced by the arbitration tribunals when applying this provision. The thesis is composed from two main parts, theoretical one and analytical one. Each part is further divided into two separate chapters. First chapter familiarizes a reader with the basic instruments of international investment law, the bilateral investment treaties and investment contracts. The umbrella clause issue is closely intertwined with the topic of internationalization of investment contract, which is also discussed within this chapter. The second chapter provides basic introduction to the examined legal institution. Besides determining characteristic features of the umbrella clause and basic variations of its wording, the chapter also focuses on presence of this provision in contemporary sources of international investment law. In this regard, detailed analysis of the Czech bilateral investment treaties is presented. Last but not least, the attention is paid to the historical context of the issue. The detailed analysis of the International...

Heroutová, Kateřina ; Balaš, Vladimír (advisor) ; Šturma, Pavel (referee)
IN ENGLISH Jurisdiction and Admissibility in the Czech Republic's BITs The purpose of this work is to assess whether the high number of investment cases the Czech Republic had to face was partially prompted by wordings of Czech Republic's BITs. The work focuses on clauses that pertain to jurisdiction of tribunal and admissibility of claim, as these are the first questions that are raised in every proceedings. The work consists of six Chapters. The first Chapter is introductory and outlines the issues that will be examined. The second Chapter defines the terms 'jurisdiction' and 'admissibility' and explains how the concepts relate to provisions of BITs. The third Chapter is dedicated to topic of treaty shopping. It explores cases against the Czech Republic where the issue of treaty shopping was raised, analyses the argumentation and provisions that were used in each case together with similar provisions contained in other Czech BITs, and suggests changes that should be made in order to make the clauses more effective against treaty shopping. The fourth Chapter examines the instance of parallel proceedings commenced against the Czech Republic. In a structure similar to the previous Chapter, it firstly analyses the awards and the BITs that were used together with the rest of the Czech BITs. Finally it...
