Teaching Activities for the Second Degree of Elementary School on the Topic of Common Pheasant
Lasáková, Tereza ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
This thesis focuses on the topic of pheasants, exploring the evolution and change of people's opinions on them between the years 1926 and 1960. The journal StraZ myslivosti, which was later renamed to Myslivost, served as the main source of reference for these opinions. Individual articles taken from the periodical are introduced accordingly. These articles mainly discuss the breeding and hunting of the bird, but they also shed light on the research and further studies that were important for its popularization in the Czech Republic. We can say that the popularization was quite successful based on the pheasant population, which largely increased in the 1950s. However, due to agricultural changes and alterations in the landscape, their numbers decreased in the 1970s. The main trends of the article contents are purposefully divided into five-year periods. The aim of the practical part is to design activities for lower-secondary school students that target different points of view they can adopt (e.g., morphological and ecological standpoints) and simultaneously cultivate their scientific thinking. Three worksheets are attached, each focusing on different areas. One of them is specifically designed to support the inquiry-based learning. The activities are diverse and use audiovisual aids such as...
Endoparasitic infections in farmed ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) and red-legged partridge (Alectoris rufa) (Galliformes: Phasianidae)
Máca, Ondřej ; Hejcmanová, Pavla (advisor)
The entire infection process was monitored over four seasons (2012-2015) by a targeted and systematic study of ring-necked pheasants and red-legged partridges from an intensive artificial breeding programme in the Czech Republic, with focus on studying the transmission dynamics throughout the breeding process, from hatching up to release of birds to open area, in connection with timing of appropriate and effective application of drugs. 1752 pooled excrement samples were examined (745 from pheasants and 1007 from partridges). Post-mortem examinations were performed on 625 dead birds (514 pheasants and 111 partridges). Main infections of A. rufa and P. colchicus comprised representatives of the protozoa genera Eimeria and Cryptosporidium; as well as nematodes Capillaria s.l., Heterakis gallinarum and Syngamus trachea. Identification of oocyst isolates of Cryptosporidium baileyi, C. meleagridis anf C. galli were supported and characterized by nested PCR of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), actin and 60 kDa glycoprotein (GP60) genes.
Evaluate the influence of Bio-algeen on selected indicators in the artificial breeding of the Common Pheasant.
SAVULA, Petr
The aim of the work was to evaluate the influence of Bio-algeen on selected indicators in the artificial breeding of the Common Pheasant. These selected indicators were mortality and weight gain of the Pheasants. The research has been conducted in the pheasantry Černiš by České Budějovice on selected flocks of the Common Pheasant. The products that have been used in the experiment were Biopolym FZT and Biopolym Granulate. Biopolym FZT was injected into water in feeding pumps and Biopolym Granulate was added to feeding mixtures. Both products have been added to food every day. It has been found out by the experiment itself that both used products have an effect on the weight gain of the Common Pheasant, but they have no impact on mortality.
The evaluation of natural reproduction of the red-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) in the pheasantry owned by the forest-empire Židlochovice, LČR, s.p.
VLACH, Marek
The study is dealing with appreciation of natural reproduction of ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) in a pheasantry owned by LČR,s.p. By one of the purpose was set the appreciation of the pheasantry and current natural conditions in accordance with public notice no.7/2003 in a full range. The background of the pheasantry is complied with requirements by the public notice. Another objective was monitoring running of Pheasant males. Next objective was to analysed and evaluated a natural reproduction ability of Pheasant females in the pheasantry. There was found very low ability of reproduction in the pheasantry. As the main reasons for low reproduction ability of Pheasant females were found mostly higher population pressure of predators and depressed ability of making nests by Pheasant females of intensive artificial breeding.
THE EVALUATION OF PREDATION PRESSURE TO PHEASANT CLUTCHES IN HUNTING DISTRICT HS DOUDLEBY
TESAŘ, Jan
In a hunting district HS Doudleby was processed an overview about occurrence of wild population of pheasant and process of its quantity. Next was determined predation pressure to pheasant clutches with the assistance of clutch imitation by the form of terrain experiment. It was found out, that wild population of pheasant created stably approximately 30 specimens in the studied hunting district. Only after flood in 2002 happened a temporary decrease of quantity to approximately 7 specimens and after hard winter 2005/6 happened again a decrease of population about 10 specimens. By the evaluation of predation pressure to pheasant nests was determined, that from 17 nest imitations were 13 destroyed by not closer specified predators.
