Reliability of a load-carrying test by military personnel
Kubák, David ; Oláh, Vladan (advisor) ; Michalička, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Reliability of a load-carrying test by military personnel. Objectives: This study aims to determine the reliability of carrying a load of 15kg test designed for occupational testing of military personnel of the Czech Army. Methods: This theoretical-empirical work tested a deliberate set of students from the Military Branch at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Charles University. The research population consisted of 17 probands with an average age of 22.1 years, an average height of 179.4 cm and an average weight of 78.9 kg. It uses the reliability test-retest method. The probands underwent 8 timed trials, then recorded in Microsoft Excel. The recorded results in Microsoft Excel were converted to txt format and then descriptively and statistically analyzed in Jasp (0.17.1.0). An intraclass correlation coefficient of the ICC type of 3.1 was used to statistically assess the consistency of performance, accompanied by 95% confidence intervals [LL, UL]. Results: Performance across test trials showed a moderate level of consistency with ICC (3,1) = 0,725, [0,567, 0,866]. ICC values ≥ 0.5 were considered sufficiently consistent. Physical load in simulated sustained military operations: A Systematic Review
Fanta, Matěj ; Vágner, Michal (advisor) ; Sýkora, Karel (referee)
Title: Physical load in simulated sustained military operations: a systematic review Objective: To create an overview and description of the physical load that soldiers undergo in simulated sustained operations. Methods: The method chosen to create this bachelor's thesis was a systematic review of literature and studies related to sustained military operations. The thesis was conducted according to the international PRISMA recommendations. Based on the aim of the thesis and the research question, a script was created to identify potentially relevant studies through the Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus and SPORTDiscus databases. To the systematically identified studies, studies from other sources obtained through non- systematic searching were added. Selected studies that met the predefined inclusion criteria underwent a methodological quality assessment, followed by processing and analysis of the selected data. Results: The systematic review included 42 studies with participation of 872 men and 69 women. However, a number of these studies were published based on data from larger investigations, or some of the articles were a continuation of previously published studies. In some cases, the protocols described were identical. For this reason, only 26 studies that followed different protocols are...
The normalization study of the motoric tests focusing on strength, endurance and dexterity performance at the artillery and air force military personnel.
Šrámek, Antonín ; Vágner, Michal (advisor) ; Sovák, Libor (referee)
The normalization study of the motoric tests focusing on strength, endurance and dexterity performance at the artillery and air force military personnel. The physical preparedness of soldiers is an important component of the military's combat capability. In peacetime, soldiers increase their physical level in all-military training, where they also undergo physical performance examinations. Standardised motor tests are used for the objective assessment of physical performance, where it is necessary to set the norms to which the performance is assessed. The objectives This diploma thesis aimed to set the normsfor the motor test "Deadlift", "Hand Release Push-up", "3000-Metre Run" and "Carrying the Load", in which reliability during repeated measurements was also assessed. The method The research set consisted of 105 artillerymen for the first three above mentioned motor tests and 65 men (44 artillerymen and 21 men from the helicopter airbase) for "Carrying the Load". The set of soldiers was divided into age groups within five years. To calculate the norms, the normal distribution of the data was first verified and then the possible difference between the ages was compared using parametric and non-parametric ANOVA. Potential differences between the categories were compared using the Mann-Whitney test...
South Sudan's border formation process: the case of Abyei
Porubčanová, Lenka ; Mičko, Branislav (advisor) ; Doboš, Bohumil (referee)
The Sudan-South Sudan boundary has been the flashpoint of long-standing disputes between the two states. The most volatile area, however, is the oil-rich territory of Abyei. In the complexity of the localized zone, it is not only oil that forms the basis for the intractability of the two state's territorial disputes. This thesis aims to apply a newly developed theory of boundary formation that conveys broad insights into the possible drivers and factors of the border's state, not only in its technical definition. To this end, the thesis monitors some of the most influential factors compared across chronological periods. In such a mechanism, the thesis concretizes the state of the frontier by the selected structuralist theory. The extract further suggests a bidirectional relationship between the influence of state apparatus and border populations on the final borderwork. Therefore, the reflexivity of the population equally contributes to the border's state. This result demonstrates the theoretical model's broad applicability and a multidisciplinary explanation of the local border dispute fixation. Despite the limited scope, and hence the casual relationships examined, the thesis contributes to the debate on the stimulus for Abyei's territorial boundary tensions to some extent.
The role and significance of the Central Music of the Army of the Czech Republic in contemporary society
Hyneš, Ondřej ; Selčanová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Valášek, Marek (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the activities of the Central Music of the Army of the Czech Republic (CM ACR) which as one of the few military music ensembles in the Czech Republic withstood the gradual reduction of many military ensembles after the coup in 1989. The aim of the thesis is to map the activities of the CM ACR from 2010 to the present. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the composition of the orchestra, with emphasis on the repertoire and the musical production itself. The practical part follows, through a halfstructured interview and the journey of a few selected members of the CM ACR to become full members of this musical ensemble. Analysis of Czech army reserve units and their employment in crisis situations
PÍŠA, Daniel
The aim of the diploma thesis is the analysis of existing reserve units and the legal framework with respect to natural, entrepreneurial natural persons and legal entities, comparison with a similar system abroad. Analysis and evaluation of the level of readiness, equipment, and possibilities of deployment with regards to feasible tasks in crisis situations. The theoretical part deals with the general concept of reserves, the definition of Active reserves, the structure of command and control, and the system of requiring forces and resources of the Army, including Active reserves. It defines crisis situations and describes the possibilities of using Active reserves in crisis situations. It describes the reasons and way of calling Active reserves into active duty. It specifies the duties and requirements of the soldier's employer and at the same time the obligations of the Army towards the soldier's employer in Active reserves. It describes a similar types of Active reserves units abroad, specifically in the United States the National Guard and the Army Reserves. The practical part consists of a questionnaire survey, in which respondents comprised of Active reserves soldiers and professional soldiers who are dedicated to run Active reserves agenda. DOTMLPF-I, the military analysis, was conducted as well as SWOT analysis. The questionnaire survey was also used to directly ask targeted questions to complete the DOTMLPF-I analysis. The focus of the work was to obtain and analyse data and information. The conclusions are summarized in the evaluation of the possibilities of deploying Active reserves and at the same time, based on the processed results of analyses, specific recommendations for the short, midterm and long term are given.
