Between the Landscape and the City

My bachelor project is a study of a multifunctional building of Faculty of Science Palacký University in Olomouc, Holice. This building will be a new space for feeding and spending the free time not only for academic community but also for public visiting the nearest neighborhoood for example Holice forest. The building is the main entrance to the premises of the faculty. In the first floor we can find café, cafeteria and library, we can visit the lectures in the auditorium in the second floor and last but not least we will find accommodation for summer school students, teachers and foreign visitors in the second and third floor. Surroundings and the shape of the building are designed to create a new public space for assembly which is now absent.

Autonomy of universities in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the self-governance of universities as one of the types of professional self-governance in the Czech Republic. The aim of the theoretic part of the thesis is to create a compact sum of university self-governance attributes in the Czech Republic. The thesis is especially concerned with basic issues of university self-governance in view of the legal, personal and economic grounds. The aim of the practical part is to evaluace the operation of the chosen subject, namely the Westmoravian College Třebíč (Západomoravská vysoká škola, o.p.s.) with respect to funding, staffing and potential deficiencies in relation to the valid legislation. Elaborated from the point of view of internal management and extended with the student s viewing of the school.

The thesis is especially concerned with basic issues of university self-governance, their legal, personal and economic grounds. The aim of the practical part is to evaluate, by means of a questionnaire survey, the impact of the contemplated changes in this field, which are to be brought by the prepared reform of higher education system.
