Kumsová, Ilike ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis tries to anchor the term activist journalism on the basis of how Czech journalists perceive it. The thesis focuses on the historical development of objectivity, as well as the currents of journalism that deviate from it, global definitions of activism and advocacy, and these same definitions associated with branches of journalism. Objectivity and its relevance in 21st century journalism is included in the theoretical part of the thesis, along with a polemic. The practical part is devoted to qualitative semi-structured in-depth interviews with six Czech journalists and their understanding of objectivity, activism in journalism and other topics discussed in the theoretical part of the thesis. On their basis, the boundaries of Czech journalists' understanding of activist journalism are suggested as advocacy of correct opinion, absence of criticism (of a given topic) and concealment of reality are defined. At the same time, it was discovered that there is a split between what Czech journalists understand as activist journalism and its academic definition. Ilike Kumsová

Professional ethics in legal practice Key words: ETHICS, ADVOCACY, PROFESSIONAL ETHICS The primary subject of my diploma thesis is professional ethics related to carrying out advocacy in the Czech Republic and institutions related to the ethics of solicitors. The reason for my choice of the aforementioned subject is mainly my experience in a legal office, where I have encountered many positive and negative approaches to carrying out this profession, and also the public's interest in the ethics of advocacy, which is growing concurrently with the rising needs of citizens to use services by legal consultants and representatives. In the first chapter of my work I describe the key terms (ethics, morals, law), definition of which is fundamental for understanding the issue of professional ethics and I also outline the mutual relations between these terms. In the second chapter I briefly present the short but varied history of advocacy in the Czech Republic, which began in the 12th Century. The third chapter focuses on definition of the institute of professional ethics. The first part concerns professional ethics as a set of moral standards valid for a specific profession and the second part defines professional ethics in relation to carrying out advocacy. RESUMÉ THE PERFORMANCE OF A LEGAL PROFESSION (THE BAR) IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND IN BELARUS The aim of this thesis is to characterize the practice of law in the Czech Republic and Belarus. This theme was chosen because of the comparison of advocacy in both countries and also because of the limited number of literature sources about law practices and advocacy organization in Belarus, to at least briefly cover the operation of this Institute from the very beginning. Czech Republic and Belarus are democratic countries. Czech Republic is a parliamentary form of government. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus (1994) it is a presidential republic, with strong centralization of legislative, executive and judicial power in the hands of the president, as evidenced by presidential decrees, which significantly affects the advocacy activities and organization in Belarus. A common feature of both countries is the nature of the mission of advocacy - providing skilled and professional legal assistance in accordance with the law; serving the principles of legality and justice. This thesis is systematically divided into individual chapters. The first chapter defines the key terms related to the Advocacy Institute and the right to legal assistance in general. The second chapter is devoted to the...
