Southeast Asia as a new tourist destination
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Petrů, Zdenka (advisor) ; Straková, Ivana (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the development of tourism industry in South east Asia. Its goal is to asses not only the evolution of individual Southeast Asian countries but also to analyse its place within the world tourism framework. In the Czech literature, much has been published about Southeast Asian economy as a whole, but tourism industry, as a key sector of the economy has been neglected. This thesis therefore defines Southeast Asia as a tourist destination and also analyses its specialities and determines development trends, focusing on the period from the beginning of 1990 up to present. Both domestic and incoming tourism has been analysed, as they are both components of tourism in the destination. The thesis presents "Asian tygers" as newly emerged destinations, where tourism industry growth in the 1990s often exceeded 30% Y-o-Y.
