Effect of surface finish on degradation of wood-based structural board due to influence of moisture
Kratochvílová, Erika ; Schmid, Pavel (referee) ; Petro,, Marek (referee) ; Šlanhof, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this dissertation is the optimisation of surface finishes for application to oriented strand board (OSB) in order to increase its moisture resistance. This is a summary of research focused on experimental verification that the application of surface finish could have significant influence on reducing thickness swelling, increasing weight of OSB due to water absorption and slowing down the rise of water in OSB. There was also verified if application of surface finishes only on the cutting edges could significantly affect the penetration of water into the OSB board. Some of used test methods were based on European technical standards, but were modified in order to determine influence of surface finishes in the long term. Alternative test method was also designed and implemented. The essence of this test method was to determine how high the water can rise in OSB. The research covered 8 different types of surface finishes available on the market. The selected finishes did not require any special treatments to be applied to the surface of the OSB itself. Based on the results, a mutual comparison and evaluation of their effects was carried out.
Recycled aggregates to asphalt mixtures of the flexible pavements
Kropáč, Pavel ; Zdřálek, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the theoretical part of the creation, distribution and recycling of construction and demolition waste. Subsequently covers made from these recycled construction and demolition waste and its potential application in structural layers of the pavement. In the practical part of the thesis deals with monitoring the overall properties of nine asphalt mixtures with different proportion of recycled concrete aggregate and asphalt binder, which are designed and intended for bed asphalt pavement. The recycled concrete aggregate and asphalt are performed various laboratory tests, the results are subjected to a comparison with the relevant standards and TP 210. The conclusion is made price comparisons of asphalt mixtures.
Quality of the recycled aggregates to the roads
Sokolová, Veronika ; Pecha, Karel (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
Theoretical part of the thesis describes the production, properties and characteristics of recycled aggregates and the resulting assessment of the suitability of its use in the construction of roads. The practical part is focused on implementing the basic tests of aggregates according to applicable standards, such as bulk density, water absorption and resistance to crushing of aggregates. Tests are performed on fractions of the three types of recycled aggregate and then compared with the same results of tests on natural aggregates.
Sintering ability of feldspars and their alternatives
Votava, Petr ; Štubňa,, Igor (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
The main goal of this Bachelor’s thesis is to compare sintering ability of feldspars which are the most used flux in ceramics with their alternatives such as quarry dust and bone ash. Theoretic part describes process of sintering, sintering activities of used fluxes and their use in the manufacture of ceramics. Practical part is dedicated to description and evaluation of experiment in witch sintering activities of various fluxes ceramic product are compared in dependence on their percent proportion in raw material mix.
Measurement of infiltration in the field using MiniDisk infiltrometer
Vláčilíková, Michaela ; Doležal, Ing Petr (referee) ; Kameníčková, Ivana (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with measuring of infiltration by MiniDisk method and its evaluation, but also with analysis of intact and grab soil sample, by means of which it is possible to assess the soil quality. The measurements took place on 30.4.2019, 4.5.2019, 12.5.2019, 2.6.2019, 30.6.2019, 2.7.2019, 31.8.2019 and 21.9.2019 on grassland near the town of Luhačovice. Grab and intact soil samples were taken from the upper soil layer and processed in a pedological laboratory. The Zhang method was used to evaluate the infiltration results. The results of soil analyzes and infiltration were processed numerically, plotted and subsequently described and compared.
Use of recycled building materials to urban pavement constructions
Průdková, Hana ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the possibilities of construction and demolition waste management. It examines the issue of allocation and management of this waste and evaluates possibilities of their further use. It deals with production and use of recycled materials in construction of urban roads and economic advantage of recycled materials in comparison to natural aggregates. This work also discusses the issue of aerated concrete, as a modern building material, that will soon appear in construction and demolition waste to a greater extent. The practical part examines properties of mixed recyclates with a certain amount of brick and aerated concrete particles by testing the bulk density of grains and water absorption, freezing and thawing resistance and crushing resistance.
Wooden buildings using natural thermal and acoustic insulation
Ambrožová, Elena ; Spáčilová, Jitka (referee) ; Myslín,, Jiří (referee) ; Solař,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hirš, Jiří (referee) ; Spáčil, Miroslav (advisor)
Dissertation deals with the technical parameters of natural thermal insulation. In addition, there is a global trend in the construction of reducing energy consumption for heating, air conditioning, or with operating facilities in buildings and the use of perspective and efficient building materials with a negligible negative impact on the environment. Therefore, the attention not only professionals are increasingly turning to alternative materials, such as natural insulation, the material can be drawn from local sources and whose production is energy-saving and leaving a small ecological footprint. As part of the doctoral thesis were tested short term water absorption, measurements were made of the thermal conductivity and its change after the test short term water absorption. Was determined dependence of thermal conductivity on humidity and heat resistance was determined. Moreover a natural insulation applications in building construction with a comparison of the various technical parameters and environmental footprint. At the conclusion was made by acoustic insulation in timber construction and price analysis.
Possibilities of building of hydrophobized masonty structures in flood areas
Fabiánková, Aneta ; Stančík,, Hynek (referee) ; Zach, Jiří (advisor)
The work describes development of hydrophobic flooting masonry for use in floodareas. The kontent of the bachelor thesis is realizing of a literaturere view in area of mapping masonry load during floods and solution of construction to prevent degradation and destruction. Also, to designe hydrophobizing products and construction technology to ensure tightness during floods. The work includes theoretical verification of functionality of hydrophobizing products and waterproof of wallsway to ensure the least possible absorption of construcion.
Study of High Strength Concrete with regard to current developments and applications in civil engineering
Vobinušková, Kristýna ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Křížová, Klára (advisor)
In it’s theoretical part, Bachelor’s thesis describes basic features, historical and recent development and current knowledge in the area of high strength concretes – HSC. Moreover, individual materials suitable for this type of concrete and design and construction regularities are discussed. It provides several examples of already realized buildings of this kind in Czech republic. The experimental part covers production of HSC test bodies. Lastly, results of conducted experiments, such as compressive strength, resistance to chemical de-icing agents and water absorption are reported.
Innovative wood-based materials
Buriánek, Vlastimil ; Brožovský, Jiří (referee) ; Vaněrek, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the issue of optimizing the modification process for plywood boards. Optimization consists mainly in evaluating different densification methods with different parameters of plasticization and stabilization. Psychical parameters (bulk density, swelling, water absorption) and strength parameters (bending strength, modulus of elasticity) of modified plates were chosen for the evaluation parameters. The practical part involved the verification of two thickening treatments on birch plywood.
