Bártlová, Erika ; Jirkovský, Daniel (advisor) ; Dorková, Zlatica (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of nurses' motivation for lifelong learning and their awareness of this topic. Target: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out whether nurses have an overview of the individual forms of lifelong education of non-medical healthcare workers, whether and how they are motivated to participate in them, and what factors prevent them from participating in lifelong education programs. Methods: A questionnaire containing 22 questions was distributed electronically to the nurses. A total of 493 questionnaires were processed of which 348 general nurses, 70 children's nurses, 58 practical nurses, 8 midwives and 8 paramedics participated in the survey. The non-parametric statistical method Pearson's Chi-square was used for statistical data processing. Results: The results show that nurses' knowledge of individual programs and forms of lifelong learning varies depending on their age, length of professional practice and educational attainment. Nurses' interest in participating in lifelong learning programs decreases with increasing age and length of practice and is influenced by workload resulting from staff shortages. The biggest motivating factor turned out to be a higher financial reward. The most important demotivating factor is lack of time. Conclusions:...
Competences of nurses caring for pediatric patients in the surgery of practitioner for children and adolescents
TATEROVÁ, Kateřina
The work of a nurse in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents is very diverse. The nurse is primarily involved in primary care, which is a set of activities related to health promotion, prevention, investigation, treatment, rehabilitation and, last but not least, nursing. Her other responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating the child's psychomotor development, thus creating a stimulating environment for healthy development. In the course of her work, the nurse takes on the role of administrator, care coordinator, educator, nurse, team player, organizer and above all communicator. The first objective of this study was to determine the competencies of nurses working in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents. The second aim was to find out the attitude of nurses towards increasing their competencies in caring for paediatric patients in a general practitioner's office for children and adolescents. The third aim was to find out what barriers nurses perceive in the application of their competencies in the paediatric and adolescent practice. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis was prepared using a qualitative research method. We used the questionnaire method and the semi-structured interview technique to collect data. The research population consisted of ten nurses working in general practitioner's offices for children and adolescents from the South Bohemia region with different lengths of experience. After transcribing the interviews with the respondents verbatim, we analyzed the results using the open coding method of pencil and paper, where we established seven categories: Workload of nurses, Professional competencies, Increasing nurses' competencies, Adding competencies, Barriers to the application of new competencies, Performing tasks not falling within competencies, Education. The results are summarized in the individual tables and diagrams in the empirical part of this thesis. The survey shows that the most frequently used professional competences of nurses in the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents are vaccinations, checking physiological functions and taking biological material. Nurses' attitudes towards increasing their competencies were predominantly positive. Only two respondents indicated that they would not add any new competencies. The new competencies that the respondents would welcome are sampling and swabs without a doctor's office, administration, basic physical examination, prescribing chronic medications, diabetes education, and wound healing education. The barriers perceived by nurses to exercising their competencies with the pediatric and adolescent general practitioner included limited office hours, overflow patients, and the physician. The remaining seven respondents answered that they did not perceive any barriers. We believe that this bachelor thesis could serve as an overview of the interest of nurses to increase their competencies and as a study material for health professionals and the general public for orientation in the given issue, as well as an overview of the workload of nurses working in the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents.

View of doctors on current nurses practise
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Petra
In this bachelor's thesis we will deal with key aspects of the work of a nurse from the point of view of medical staff and we will also investigate the opinions of physicians on the current system of Czech nursing education. The present time has high requirements on nurses, especially on the work of a nurse and higher education. Today is very often said that nurses should be equal partners with physicians in the care of patients and take a respected position in a multidisciplinary team. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis we will deal with the history of nursing, current nursing and we will also focus on the doctor nurse relationship. In the empirical part of the work we will examine the view of physicians on the issue of education and work of a nurse. For processing of the empirical part was chosen qualitative research together with the method of semi structured interview. The research group consists of 8 medical staff from various clinical fields. Based on the interviews, the results were divided into 2 large categories and 8 subcategories. Gained results showed that physicians perceive current education as complicated and too long, preferring to devise a better system that would precisely define and adjust questions of increasing competencies and the related education of nurses and length of study. Furthermore, doctors stated that university studies bring benefits in the form of obtaining a university degree and higher prestige of the profession. Physicians consider the work of a nurse to be essential and have the opinion that the nurse is an indispensable part of well provided care for patients. We also found out that the most common reasons that affect the emergence of a conflict situation between the nurse and the doctor are stress, overwork, mutual disrespect associated with inappropriate behavior and violation of the competencies of both parties. Based on the statements, we can also state that doctors consider the nurse as their partner in the field of professional patient care and they do not have problem with accepting proposals or recommendations from nurses.

Blood collecting yesterday and today
STOLARIKOVÁ, Pavlína
Blood collection is nowadays a common procedure, especially nurse's. The nurses encounter blood donations almost every day of their service. This procedure is especially important for physicians, who, based on laboratory results, can diagnose pathological conditions and subsequently indicate appropriate treatment. This bachelor thesis called Blood collection in the past and today is processed as a theoretical work. According to the title of the thesis, it is clear that it is focused on blood collection and other problems related to it. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development and related changes in blood collection performance using available sources. Specifically, the aim is to analyze how the procedure itself and the tools used for blood collection have changed. The thesis is processed by an analysis of available primary and secondary sources of historical and current data. Blood collection is of course related to blood, whose physiology is described in the work. The procedure of blood collection is related to laboratory examination, which is also mentioned in this thesis. The aim is to analyze the sources describing the development of blood collection and tools used for it. The paper also mentions the topic of transfusion medicine and nursing education, which is closely related to the performance of blood collection within the competence of nurses, whose form has changed over the years. The thesis has been elaborated using available Czech and foreign literary sources, databases and articles from professional periodicals. A comprehensive theoretical basis has been developed, which can be used in practice especially as a study and information material for professional and general society. Based on an analysis of sources, it has been found that blood collection has changed both during the development of nursing and medicine itself, and due to many industrial, technical and political influences.
Facts influencing attempt of nursing staff in patient orientation health care.
WALDSBERGEROVÁ, Marcela
The thesis presented consists of two parts: a theory and the empirical part. The theory is introduced with a brief survey of the history of the patient centred care followed with current trends in nursing. It is followed with the three key areas determining nursing care. The first one consists of the objective factors - the health care system. The second area is formed by the factors associated with the practical implementation of nursing. The third area is devoted to the role of the patient and his surroundings. Objective of the thesis: The mapping of the factors influencing patient-oriented care by the nursing staff and management in various health care institutions. Research group The research group consisted of 11 female respondents state-registered nurses, aged from 24 to 58 years of age. The respondents varied in their position, level of education, and specialization, and they worked in various health-care institutions. Among them, there were 6 registered nurses, 4 ward nurses, and 1 head nurse. The willingness to cooperate and the saturation of responses were principal in forming the research team in question. The way adopted for achieving of the objective A qualitative research method has been chosen to achieve the goal. The phenomenological focus of the work has led to the selection of the method. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews. The findings were further categorized and confronted with the source material to answer the research questions. Results The research confirms the nursing care is a complex phenomenon. The recently-adopted health care legislation shows a shift from the paternalistic concept of care on behalf of the right of the patient to self-determination. On the other hand, however, the principle of solidarity the basis of the health care system in the Czech Republic retains some paternalismus, and that can negatively affects the relationship of the patient to the nursing staff in some cases. The respondents are in agreement as to the notion of PCC but a single one respondent knows its concept. The possibility of putting the PCC in practice is hampered by a wide range of factors. According to the respondents, the major obstacle is the undernumerousness of the nursing staff, resulting in the omnipresent time stress. The excessive red-tape demands have been seen as the almost equally important factor, together with the lack of continuity of care, but also the fast-and-loose approach of some nurses. The evaluation of the cooperation between staff nurses at the bed and the nurses in senior positions differed. Staff nurses see the problem in cooperation with their superiors, lacking appreciation of their work. Management, i.e. head nurses and ward nurses are often seen as systemic obstacles. The research investigation also shows insufficient cooperation with the patient's family. Permanent changes in the nursing education concept are seen as a hindrance to the problem solution. Regretfully, the actual approach of a nurse often slides down from a vocation to a mere employment. Conclusion The problems identified in the healthcare system indicate a wide range of factors influencing the relations between the nursing staff and patients. Multidimensional patient care concepts and examples from our healthcare system illustrate how clinical, structural, and interpersonal factors can interact in the relations between nursing staff and patient. The PCC concept should enable any health-care provider to set ways to improvement the care rendered and to motivate the caring staff to adopting it.
