Design of roundabout I/35, I/57 and II/150 with strong left-turn

The diploma thesis is focused on insufficient capacity problem of roundabout I/35, I/57 and II/150 in the Valašské Meziříčí town. It is based on engineering survey according to which three possible models are designed. Capacity assesment is made on each of these models. Throug the evaluation is selected the most suitable design of turbo roundabout type "knee", which is technically processed and substantiated by text and drawing documentation.
Crossroad Hlavní třída a Slezská street in Frýdek-Místek - study

The subject of this diploma thesis is variant design of adaptation of T- intersection to crossroad at Frýdek-Místek. At first, there was made traffic forecast of generated traffic from regional planning. After that, there were made traffic forecast from relocation of road II/477. Then for every traffic forecast there were made two more variants of designs. The first variant is designed by one lane roundabout and signal-controlled intersection with signal timing plan. The second and the third variant are designed by turbo roundabout and signal-controlled intersection with signal timing plan. All variants have their own capacity analysis.

Dissertation describes new methodology of design turbo-roundabouts in Czech Republic. Especially innovative is approach to the design of traffic lanes with regards to standard vehicles and widening of traffic lanes according to their dimensions. Innovative is also approach to road signs, where details of current signs are modified, however, these details are important for drivers’ better understanding while driving through turbo-roundabouts. Dissertation fills legislative, but also technical, blank spot during turbo-roundabouts design and I believe that it will benefit particularly designers of these intersections.
Intersection Hrotovická st. x Kosmákova st. in Třebíč

Subject of the thesis is project documentation of reconstruction of two very near intersections on road II/351 in Třebíč. Directional traffic research was done in order to compare suggested variants, (spiral) turbo roundabout was selected for further working-out of the project. Project solves road traffic including public bus transport, sidewalks and rehabilitation of joining streets.
Lipůvka – turbo roundabout of roads I/43 and II/379

This thesis builds on previous work on an Institute of Roads FAST VUT dealing with modifications of road I/43 Brno – Svitavy. A conversion of the existing temporary three leg single lane roundabout to egg turbo roundabout with four legs, is proposed there, in accordance with local plan of Lipůvka. The intersection of road I/43 and II/379 can be characterized by large congestions in the morning peak hours during weekdays and afternoon peak hours on Saturday and Sunday. That is the reason for implementation of capacity assessment of designed turbo roundabout and comparison with current situation. Construction of fourth leg is motivated by the planned expansion of residential area and the development of industrial zone on the south-western outskirts of the village and rerouting of the county road II/379 out of built-up area as well. Road I/43 is an important thoroughfare north of Brno, so it is obvious effort to eliminate the bottlenecks on the route. The thesis also includes a theoretical introduction dealing with the design of turbo roundabouts abroad.
