Hermanová, Veronika ; Kučerová, Zdeňka (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to point out raising temperature and climate changes in towns and villages in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the impact of climate changes on health of population as well as impact on public places. It analyses and proposes all possible conceptual solutions to support sustainable development and reduction of the climate impact. The target is to indicate measures of help to nature that will navigate to positive response on the climate changes on streets and public places to achieve comfortable living in the build-up area. Part of the bachelor thesis is personal proposal for the modification of the given public space in the town of Valasske Mezirici, to which individual measures are specifically projected.
Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Hlušková, Lenka ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is the design of a sustainable urban structure located in the city of Breclav. Directly situated in a place near the main city street, 1 May Avenue. This location, adjacent to the city centre, is suitable for the future construction of a compact urban structure, which has not been there so far. The thesis contains an urbanistic and architectural design of a new urban district that has functions suitable for a quality public space in an urbanised environment. The area under consideration contains a new urban compact structure that should provide a sustainable living environment for local residents. Watercourses are a prominent feature of the proposal and will complement the quality of the newly proposed public space in the urban quarter.
Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Faryová, Markéta ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the master's thesis was to propose a solution for the current urban structure, based on the principles of economic, social, and environmental sustainability – the urban vision of the city of Břeclav. The defined area is bordered by 1. máje street and the embankment of the relief arm of the Dyje river; to the east, it neighbors the historical center, and to the south, residential buildings and a hospital. Various types of buildings are found in this area: supermarkets, storage facilities, industrial complexes, residential buildings etc. However, the density of development is not high. Residential buildings within the defined area are preserved. Buildings unsuitable for the central part of the city due to their character, design, or scale will be replaced or relocated to a more suitable location. The newly proposed structure represents a compact part of the city, mainly comprising urban blocks typical of urban space. It also responds to the surrounding existing development, connecting the older and newer parts of the city. A part of the proposal involves making accessible and integrating parts of the millrace into the public space as a significant element of Břeclav's identity, which abounds in natural wealth. Together with other principles, emphasis was placed on creating a space for people that serves as a home, workplace, meeting point, and living space.
Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Kiowský, Filip ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design a new urban structure for Břeclav. The conceptual study addresses the connection of two separate urban units through a new polyfunctional district. Returning to well-proven urban planning methods plays an important role: compactness and working with public space, as well as nature-inspired landscape interventions. The result is a polycentric neighbourhood for eight thousand inhabitants. The design consists of a series of urban blocks, the scale of which is adapted to the existing part of the city, thus achieving intensive land use, tapping into the potential of the area for the sustainable development of the entire Břeclav without a need to expand into the surrounding countryside. Public spaces are systematically hierarchized, giving the new district order. Emphasis is placed on permeability, overcoming barriers such as watercourses and the busy main street 1. máje. Ecological modes of transport are preferred - namely public transport, cyclists, and pedestrians. The design thus offers an alternative to the current wave of Czech cities expanding to their surroundings.
Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Koudelka, Vojtěch ; Řehák, Filip (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The task of the thesis was to create a new urban structure in the city of Breclav. The area in the project is located along the 1st May Avenue, which is a congested traffic route of the municipality. The area contains disparate buildings, industrial buildings and brownfield areas. The task of the work was to conceptually design the entire city with an emphasis on the selected location of the new urban district. The proposal creates a new compact block development that will compact the core of the dispersed city. The focus of the design is on increasing temperature conditions, the creation of new housing opportunities and the connection of the designed area with the nearby surroundings separated by barriers. The design also addresses wider urban connectivity, creating alternative routes for congested arterial traffic and complementing existing urban amenities.
Sustainable urban neighbourhood design of a Czech city
Venglář, Václav ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis aims at designing a new urban district in the Czech town near state borders of Břeclav. This town has a specific historical development, landscape location, natural conditions including flood risks and its own almost rural character. In the second half of the 20th century, this character was considerably disrupted by the construction of high-rise apartment buildings and new housing estates that did not respect the existing scale of the buildings and the town as a whole. The approach taken in the creation of the new district was to respect the existing scale of the city and to preserve the existing residential buildings and the size of the original building blocks. Furthermore, the amenities such as school facilities and a nursing home are added and the currently underused or poorly used areas in the middle of the city are reclaimed. These areas should be instead the most exclusive and active. The newly designed development thus fills in the current blind spot of the city, limits urban sprawl into the open countryside, raises the potential of the city centre itself and improves the connection of the individual city districts both by transport and urban structure.
NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner
Matoušek, Jaroslav ; Vágner, Lukáš (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
The project of new buildings on the corner of Oldbstrees Bratislavska street creates a compact volume with several features. It continous with the surrounding block development where is significantly separated public and private space. The building is divided into several distinct masses, which correspond to measure their surrounding areas. Individual masses are united in the same tectonic principle facade. Abandoning figure in the southern part of the site creates space in front of the theater Radost and at the same time it achieves better insolation of new apartments. The newly designed building contains typologically different apartments.
New South District and its Connection to Svratka
Nedbalová, Monika ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
Brno has been considering moving the Main railway station for several decades. Countless urban plans have been done through several competitions, the new South District, which will be located north direction of today's Dolní nádraží station in the future. The architectural study, which was the subject of this diploma thesis, designs multifunctional object called Platform. The building could become part of the emerging South District. The base for the architectural study of the Platform was urban concept of South District designed by me as a pre-diploma thesis. The significance of the South District is comparable to the new Main Railway Station in Vienna surrounded by new district. Those opportunities were the foundation for designing compact urban structure with great variability of public spaces and buildings themselves. The new building is located on the Route of experiences, which is an alternative lane to the main boulevard from the Main Station to the centre of Brno. That starts at the railway station, leads through South District and its main square, the waterfront, through the islands of Svratka, to the park next to the river. Lane continues to the rediscovered railway viaduct and further to today's Main railway station. The viaduct was an inspiration for the architectural design, in the sense of material and shape. The mass of the building itself is divided horizontally into two parts. The lower, heavy masonry brick part of the market is visually separated from the upper objects that seem to levitate above the market. These three upper masses grow from the green roof of the market. Their function is already evident due to their facades. Upper part belongs to the two apartment buildings with a regular grid of south-west orientated windows and one coworking facility located in the northern corner of the Platform. The location of the building is significant. The views from the Platform are amazing - one side there is the Svratka River with island
Smart District Špitalka
Vémolová, Petra ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The management of Brno has been considering building a new boulevard for several years. Many studies have been prepared on the appearance of the new Brno boulevard, which will be run parallel to Koliště Street. Brno boulevard should alleviate traffic jams on the surrounding roads. The diploma thesis deals with the architectural study of the hotel and the congress hall that would become part of the emerging smart district Spitalka. The urban concept (part of the pre-diploma thesis) is the basis for the architectural study of the hotel. The area responds to the elements that characterize smart cities abroad. The design includes a large variability of public spaces and the buildings themselves. The newly built hotel is adjacent to the newly built Brno boulevard. Across the street, the hotel is connected to a public space around the cooling tower, where the surrounding buildings are used for business, commercial and entertainment functions. The brick building of the Brno heating plants was a colorful inspiration for the architectu-ral form of the design. The building itself is divided into two separate operations, part of the hotel and the congress part, which are interconnected. On the ground floor you can find the en-trance hall, which leads to the congress hall and restaurant. The corner of the building is horizontally divided into floors of different widths. The facade of the hotel on the north and south sides is divided by windows. Thanks to the shift of the top floor, a place was created for terraces that allow a view of the historic city center. The south-western side offers a view of the Svitavsky nahon, the cooling tower and Spilberk Castle. The terraces can be used by wellness visitors, hotel guests during breakfast and to visit the green roof.
MERINA 2.0
Ambrosová, Katarína ; Goluchová, Martina (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The aim is to create a vision for the future development of a problematic brownfield near the city center of Trenčín. The territory of former MERINO textile factory next to the military barracks, park and railway station is for long neglected, but still valuable in terms of urbanism, industrial heritage and new urban potential. The project will focus on the realistic spatial restructuring of the area and on the search for its new functional content.
