Optimization of SLM process for manufacturing of assault rifle muzzle device
Kubrický, Jakub ; Majzlík, Pavel (referee) ; Vtípil, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis deals with optimization of the manufacturing process of the muzzle device designed for assault rifle. The most common titanium alloy named Ti-6Al-4V was chosen for this task. The introduction summarizes previously existing types of muzzle devices and further describes the SLM technology with a special focus on titanium alloys processing. The optimization methods and their follow-up testing were designed according to theoretical knowledge that is summarized in the theoretical part of this work. Firstly, the aim was to describe the optimization of the manufacturing process with attention to preserving the relative density of the parts. Secondly, the mechanical properties of the parts that underwent different heat treatment were tested. The obtained data were then used to design and manufacture a muzzle device that underwent further testing in real condition afterwards.
High cycle fatigue of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy
Bártková, Denisa ; Liškutín, Petr (referee) ; Věchet, Stanislav (advisor)
The main goal of this master's thesis is an analysis of high-cycle fatigue of titanium alloy Ti- 6Al- 4V. In the first section of a theoretical part of the thesis, there are summarized current facts about production, properties and aplications of titanium alloys. The second section pursues fatigue behaviour of material. An experimental part consists of metallographic analysis, evaluation of tension and bending tests and mainly analysis of high-cycle fatigue behavior for different assymetry ratios.
Design and testing of a new drilling tool with inner channels
Research of a Cutting Tool with a Diamond Active Part
Trčka, Tomáš ; Mrkvica, Ivan (referee) ; Chladil, Josef (referee) ; Polzer, Aleš (advisor)
The submitted dissertation is focused on research in the field of milling tools with a diamond active part when machining one of the difficult-to-machine materials (Ti-6Al-4V). The first chapters are dealing with a theoretical analysis of a given workpiece material and polycrystalline diamond (PCD) as a super-cutting material. One of the theoretical chapters is also focused on tool sharpening technologies, for which the hardness of a diamond is no longer a crucial factor. The main part of the dissertation is the design, construction and production of tools taking into account the technological design, along with the application of modern trends and technologies enabling innovation and progressive design – from the perspective of macro/micro tool geometry and insert sharpening technology. The research was focused on the application of own inserts on the insert rake face and specific sharpening technologies EDMG, WEDM and LASER. One modification of the face of the PCD insert with a laser was subsequently applied to prototype circle segment end mill. Detailed analysis of manufactured tools and workpiece material was performed by electron, optical and digital microscopy. The measured parameters in the subsequent analysis of the machining process were force loading, tool wear, temperature measurement using a thermal imaging camera and analysis of the machined surface in the form of microhardness and roughness measurements.

Adhesion, growth and differentiation of osteoblast-like cells on materials for bone implants
Doubková, Martina ; Bačáková, Lucie (advisor) ; Filová, Eva (referee)
This thesis focuses on testing and improving Ti-6Al-4V ELI biomaterials, which are currently one of the most used titanium alloys in biomedicine (predominantly in orthopaedics and dentistry), in cooperation with research institutions and private companies developing and producing such materials. The metallic samples were previously modified by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) with use of electrolytes of a different composition to induce development of a homogeneous TiO2 layer on its surface. In vitro interactions of human osteoblast-like cell line Saos-2 with the surface of Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy samples are investigated. Initial cell attachment, spreading, morphology, cell population density, viability, calcium deposition and expression of selected osteogenic markers, e.g. collagen type I, alkaline phosphatase and osteocalcin, were evaluated on cultured cells. The cells behavior were then correlated with physicochemical properties of the material surface, such as its topography, roughness, wettability, surface layer chemical composition etc. The results are also compared with those obtained in cells cultured on control samples of untreated alloys as well as microscopic glass coverslips and bottom of standard polystyrene cell culture wells. The aim of this thesis is to select the most promising...
