Theremin Simulation Using Leap Motion
Staurovský, Maroš ; Zahrádka, Jiří (referee) ; Najman, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is the creation and implementation of application that simulates playing the theremin by using Leap Motion sensor and MIDI protocol. This sensor allows us to detect movement of hands and recognition of gestures in the monitored area. This is  used in the aplication to simulate the same principle that is used for playing theremin. Unlike this instrument we are able to produce sound of different instruments which is accomplished by using MIDI. The Leap Motion sensor and MIDI protocol are detailed in the theoretical part of the thesis.
Theremin: Touchless Musical Instrument
Baštýř, Lukáš ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design and implementation of a digital touchless musical instrument theremin. In the first part, the theremin, its features and existing solutions are first documented. The second part focuses on the documentation and testing of the software and hardware that can be used to solve this thesis. The penultimate part focuses on the actual implementation of the instrument and the creation of a working prototype. The final section tests functionality of the final prototype instrument.
Experimental Hardware Musical Instrument Based on FM Synthesis Controlled by a Contactless Controller
Vejvoda, Zdeněk ; Jirásek, Ondřej (referee) ; Dlouhý, Dan (advisor)
The focus of this bachelor thesis was a design and consequently an assembly of an experimental analog synthesizer. The beginning of the theoretical framework presents the classification of the electroacoustic instruments into subgroups with an emphasis on those which were essential for both the inspiration of the design and for the historical development itself. The subsequent chapter explores the sound synthesis methods and their musical attributes. Afterwards, particular fundamental personae of the history of experimenting with sound and music are mentioned, whose ideas were extracted for the purpose of designing this instrument. The practical part explains the motivation which was present during the work and develops it into a full circuit design. The creative process is supported by explanation of attached diagrams and required calculations. In connclusion, the assembled prototype is presented on a printed circuit board.
Theremin
Musil, Petr ; Olejár, Adam (referee) ; Vlček, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the construction of the musical instrument theremin. Theoretical section of this thesis describes various types of oscillator and its potential use in construction of the musical instrument. Practical section of this thesis deals with specific circuit design, its simulation and construction of pitch control circuit, volume control circuit, mixer, preamplifier and supply voltage regulator. Principle of operation is based on mixing two high frequency signals produced by Colpitts oscillators.

Theremin - emotions in movies
Knot, Adalbert-Vojtěch ; KUDLÁČ, Jakub (advisor) ; NEUBAUER, Petr (referee)
This thesis trys to figure out in which way is used the sound of theremin in film music. After the historical introduction and physical basics of principals which allow functioning of theremin, follow the analysis of three movies from the 40s. and 50s. which use the sound of theremin for explications of concrete emotion. However, it shows up, that this films create a new cliche from the sound of theremin and it would be difficult to overcome it; therefor, the next chapter looks for another creators who use theremin in a different way a recreate the conotation of it. At the conclusion is a short outline of following development of theremin.
