The Holocaust as fiction
Tomáš, Filip ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee) ; Špirit, Michael (referee)
180 Abstract The English-language title of the work Holokaust jako fikce is not entirely unambiguous, because the equivalent, The Holocaust as a Fiction, due to its indefinite article, comes close to denial of the Holocaust as a historical phenomenon. That is of course utterly unacceptable nonsense; however, we encounter denial (concealment) of the Holocaust in history even during the course of the war. Here the author intends to emphasize the basic limits of his own theme. It is not the Holocaust as a historical event - the extermination of European Jewry by means of National Socialist politics in the years 1939-45 - but rather the literary works representing these events. The methodological point of departure is the theory of fictional worlds (Lubomír Doležel etc.), and what interests us is the transfer of actual events into possible and fictional worlds, the representation of the results of that crossover in literary works. The work is divided into four chapters. After delimiting the approaches terminologically and theoretically, each focuses on a functional approach to the given representation. The Holocaust is investigated in this manner in three main chapters: the Holocaust as testimony, the Holocaust as a limit situation and the Holocaust as a literary transduction. The Holocaust as testimony devotes...

The Care of the Holocaust Survivors and its Specifics
Pončová, Radka ; Havrdová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Peterová, Zuzana (referee)
The master's thesis called The Care of the Holocaust Survivors and its Specifics is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is based on a premise that the specifics of the Holocaust survivors' care have three resources: the Holocaust trauma, the age of the elderly survivors, and Judaism. This part of the thesis discusses the Holocaust aspects and its impacts on the psyche of the survived victims, especially focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder as well as the consequences for the next generation, the children of survived Jews. Moreover, the following issues are examined: Judaism and the community life, the system of the special care of those survived, with regard to social and psychological services. The next chapter concentrates on the specification of this care differences and also of the elderly needs. The second, practical part of the thesis is based on the qualitative research conducted by the method of interviews with experts working with the target group of the survivors. The half- structured interviews imply that the survivors form a group of clients whose needs are partly different from the common elderly population and for whom the care reacting to their needs is preferable by most experts. However, it is impossible to generalise; each elderly who has not...
Truth and lie in the novel "Jakob der Lügner" by Jurek Becker
MARKOVÁ, Lenka
The work deals with the analysis of truth and lie in the J. Becker´s piece of work. The theoretical part, which confronts the factual events with the authenticity of the piece of work, anticipates this analysis. The literary part stands for another inevitable condition for studying the truth and lie. The ``practical part{\crq}q or the reading is thoroughly dedicated to the study of the piece {--}both from the point of view of persons living in the ghetto in Warshaw and from the point of view of the main character, Jakob Heym, which leads to the analysis of truth and lie and to meeting the requirements for my graduation thesis. All my work is concluded by a dialogue with a priest who comes from the Silesian-Polish borderline. Because of the fact that he is also engaged into this problematic I am interested in his opinion about truth and lie in ghetto {--} not only as a Pole, but as a priest as well.
