The main objectives of the thesis were to find out how cognitive functions are stimulated in the elderly in residential services or in homes for the elderly, in field care services and also in seniors living independently who depend on the support of family members. Another aim was to develop a specific intervention programme that would have a positive impact on the development of cognitive functions in the elderly. The results, obtained from the analysis of the individual interviews, are compiled in three case studies, which are divided according to the services mentioned above. The results of this qualitative research indicate that in each of the forms of care studied, attempts are made to address the senior and their cognitive functions. In some cases, a targeted focus on memory only was found, while in others they focus on the all-round development of cognitive functions. However, they always work with the individual needs and health status of the senior. The society faces the challenge of ensuring high-quality, available and economically affordable social and health care for their elderly citizens at a time when, given the demographic trend, the proportion of people aged 65 and more who are dependent on assistance of other people increases and when at the same time public financial resources are limited. The aim of the thesis is to determine what changes occurred in the use of support services for seniors in Central Bohemia Region in connection with Act No. 108/2006 Coll. The research results show that clients of social care services are most often eligible for care allowance in the 1st degree at maximum and use it mostly partially.Seniors most often seek social care services but these are generally focused on individual simple activities and they lack effort to carry out comprehensive assessment of a client´s situation and planning of care. Public attitudes to the Institutional Care for senior citizens.
STANKOVÁ, Jana
The aim of this work is to find out if the public understands that institutional senior care is care related to a field-work. The method of quantitative search was used for this survey. The presumption that people aged up to 40 are less informed about the system of social care for seniors than people over 60 was not confirmed. Those respondents 60+ did not prove any major knowledge or foreknowledge about these services. The presumption that people 60+ prefer a field-work and health service to the institutional care was confirmed. Most of the respondents would solve the reduced self-sufficiency of seniors by supporting of home care. The research confirmed that the public has awareness of the reasons, which lead to the field-work preferences for seniors.
