Konířová, Ilona ; Čajka, Radek (advisor) ; Melcher, Ota (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the military regime of Francisco Franco y Bahamonde and to describe the impact of this government on the current economic situation of the country. The thesis is divided into five parts. First chapter clarifies the causes of the civil war which started in 1936. Furthermore, the thesis analyses in detail the government of Franco and the effects of this regime to the national economy. A significant part is dedicated to the Stabilization plan, which was created in 1959. This economic plan was the most important act of this period. It ended up with the system of autarchy and led the country to world economic collaboration. The last chapter describes the economic and political situation of the country after the death of its leader. Particular emphasis is put on analysis of the regime of Franco which could have caused the current economic crisis. There is also a special focus on the unemployment, one of the biggest problems of the present Spanish economy. Lastly, the thesis summarizes the government of Franco and a possible solution to the current crisis.
Spanish integration to the CEE
Müller, Tomáš ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
My theses scope is description of the Spanish relationship to European Union from the first integration tendencies after the WW II till the preferential agreement ratification in 1970. I will try to analyze part of the Spanish economic history within the context of west-European integration. This period precedes the political transformation of autocratic Spain to modern democracy. These democratic cabinets were able to aspire seriosusly to fully-fledged European Union membership. In my opinion it is not possible to view political transformation as a start-up for democratically elected governments to setup new relationships with EU but it is necessary to understand it as an important condition which is part of a long-term process of Spanish convergence to west-European integration. In my theses I primarily concentrate on the economic development but I mean that it is important to mention the political situation as well.
