Origins and Developments of the Dominican monastery at the church of St Anne and St. Lawrence in the Old Town in Prague

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the genesis and the enlargement of the Dominican convent of St. Anna and St. Lawrence in the Old Town of Prague. The first part summarizes the foundation of the Dominican Order, its expand and the beginning of the Order in the Czech lands. Furthermore the attention passes to the Saint Anna's Convent, its establishment, development and the changing of functions from the beginning to these days when the owner of the area is the National Theatre in Prague. The Rotunda of St. Lawrence, that was founded during archaeological research in the 1950s, is not leave out from this thesis. The most substantial part is focused on the architecture of the church and convent and to the wall paintings that were restored in the past years. Certain attention is paid to the medieval roof frame in the church and also to the project of its renovation designed by Eva Jiřičná. The final part mentions all the buildings that used to belong to the convent till its cancellation in 1782.
