School media - press, radio, television, internet : on example of regions of Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem

Diploma thesis "School media - press, radio, television, internet: on example of regions of Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem" deals with school media production of pupils and students of primary and secondary education focusing on the Czech environment. The whole issue is framed within media literacy, media education. Moreover, the interpretation accents with its direction of production. The most important chapters of historical-theoretical part introduce the outline of the school media development from the beginning till nowadays. Practical part characterizes school media in the regions of Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem. The research survey is mainly focused on the occurrence of school media production, forms of their outputs and characteristics of individual types of school media. What is more, the survey is also interested in current trends in publishing of school and class magazines and their theme and genre profile. Survey summarizes reasons, which impedes realization of school media production. Finally, on account of compile findings and data, it deduces a school media typology, criteria of their possible categorisation and includes them into the media system. School media create specific territory of media landscape. However in certain circumstances, they can be considered as organisational media, which forms a part of civil media sector, or as alternative media. School media create from school peculiar type of public sphere too. School media production has quite long tradition in the Czech environment. First school media have a form of school or class magazines, which have appeared in the mid of 19th century. At the beginning, they were made from initiative of pupils and students. Their closeness to school has been changed and influenced by school experience and political situation through time. As a result, publishing of school magazines has been supported, tolerated, afflicted, and subordinated to supervision. Production media output as a part of incipient form of media education has not appeared until 80s of 20th century. The spectra of school media has extended after the November 1989. Firstly, the organisation of independent school radio and television broadcasts has started, besides school and class magazines and occasional student's broadcasts in school radio. Secondly, thanks to the extension of information and communicative technology, the new type, school internet media has emerged. Finally, there is the enlargement of other types of school...

The labor market and unemployment in the region of Ústí nad Labem

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the labor market and unemployment in the region of Ústí nad Labem, mainly on the realization and evaluation of the impacts of active labor market policies. Basic notions and theoretical bases are defined in the first part, namely types of unemployment, the manner of measuring unemployment rate and the impacts of unemployment. Labor market policies are characterized and labor market effects are clarified. Attention is given to the linkage of regional policies and unemployment and to state interventions to the economy. The second part of the thesis is focused on labor market policies in the CR, to historical evolution of unemployment in the CR since 1993 and to active labor market policies in the CR. Further on the work deals with the description of the region of Ústí nad Labem and it's labor market, where attention is given mainly to the factors affecting the rate of unemployment, like the structure of citizens by sex, age, education, nationality and the sector structure of the economy and duration of unemployment. A summary of the active labor market policy used in the region is made in the fourth chapter, stressed on the number of people using it and public spending expounded on it. In this chapter is also made an evaluation of efficiency of individual instruments. According to calculations the most effective instruments in the region of Ústí nad Labem are retraining programs and measures supporting health disabled people. The final chapter is focused on own recommendations to the public policy.
