Failure analysis of the space shuttle Columbia

Bachelor´s thesis is focused on the analysis of the space shuttle Columbia accident. Text firstly generally discusses materials used in aviation and cosmonautic, specifically composite materials. These are discussed firstly in general and then is the thesis focused on their strength and dynamic properties. Second half of the thesis describes the course of the last flight of the space shuttle Columbia and its subsequent demise. Emphasis is placed on the cause of the accident in which plays a crucial influence the material on the surface of the wing.
Overview of the dwvelopment of new reusable space vehicles

Next chapter talks about history of Space Shuttles and then names and compares the most import projects of USA and USSR. Next topic of this thesis is about problematics of reusable rocket carriers. Last chapter names and describes today´s projects of new space shuttles. The conclusion consists of overall assessment and forecast of future reusable space vehicles development.

This bachelor thesis maps the historical and technical development of space shuttles from their inception to the present. In the introduction shuttles are divided into categories and then the reasons of formation of these machines are described. The second part deals with the development itself has various designs and not only the USA and the USSR, but describes the Space Shuttle in Europe and Japan. The penultimate chapter describes two tragic accidents USA Shuttles and their causes. The last part of this work is the conclusion with the intended development of astronautics in the near future.
