Mater incerta est or The right to know one's origin in the Czech legal system Abstract The thesis deals with the issue of the children's right to know their origins in the context of the Czech legal system, its compliance with the regulation of the children's right to know their origins under Article 7(1) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the importance of the children's right to know their origins for the legal protection of the child. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the concept of the children's right to know their origins, to comprehensively analyse the applicable international, European and national legislation and to present the family law institutes most affected by the children's right to know their origins. In addition, this thesis also critically assesses the Czech Republic's reservation to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which significantly affects the children's right to know their origins, and provides de lege ferenda considerations in the area of the children's right to know their origins. Ethical aspects of dignified early life

The thesis focuses on ethical aspects influencing dignified beginning of life. Main subject is the issue of infertility and possible ways of its resolution. Introduction part defines concept of infertility, analyzes causes of infertility and presents the most common methods of assisted reproduction. Fundamental ethical problems associated with individual methods of assisted reproduction are analyzed in next section. Attention is also paid to legislation of assisted reproduction in the Czech Republic, not only to legal framework of individual methods but also to determination of motherhood and paternity. Separate chapter is devoted to issue of surrogate motherhood which is a current and highly controversial topic. Conclusion of the thesis is dedicated to psychological impacts on couples living together and opportunities for social work.

The Child's Right to Know Their Origin v. Babybox The goal of my Master Thesis is to evaluate the possibility of applying the child's right to know their origin, to find out the relationship between the right and Babybox and objectively compile and assess the existence of Babybox itself. My attention has been focused on other institutes, too, where the right to know one's origin is feasible to achieve as well as on institutes where this right is still being heavily discussed. I concentrated on one part of family law that has to react to the scientific and medical progress and changes in society. The topics I focused on are not unambiguous and it is necessary to deal with them sensitively as it is an issue important for the whole of society. It is clear that every human being wants to know their past and roots for many various reasons. This Thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to legal regulations in family law, both international and domestic. The most important international norms and contracts managing children's rights and related questions are included. I found the Convention on the Rights of the Child, where the right to know one's origin is also included, as the most significant norm. Many institutes are in conflict with this Convention.
