The use of surface modifications in recent technical practice

Bachelor's thesis deals with problems of surface treatment materials and their basic division. Work is detail focused on technology of thermal spray coatings. This work summarizes the basic information about the technology thermal spray coatings, their features and an overview of methods for their production. The aim of the project is to create an overview of methods of surface modifications used in recent practice and their application in different branches of industry.

Research and development of surface modifications of bearing steels by means of ion nitridation

Basic requirements placed on rolling bearing components include the high fatigue limit, the wear resistance and the corrosion resistance. As full production of bearings from materials with these attributes would be quite expensive, surface modifications are used to improve mechanical characteristics. This thesis deals with application of layers to the bearing steel by means of ion nitridation. It studies effects of input conditions of the ion nitridation and of the surface condition on tribological characteristics of the bearing steel with the above mentioned finishing. The study employed the interaction light microscopy, the scanning electron microscopy equipped by energy dispersive chemical microanalysis, the hardness measurement by Vickers, the glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy, and methods of the phase analysis by means of the X-ray diffraction were used.

Reduction of Valvetrain Mechanical Losses

The topic of this thesis is the mechanical losses in the valvetrain. The purpose is to describe the creation of individual losses and their possible reduction. The main factor of creation of losses is friction. The result of this thesis is to highlight the possible methods to reduce friction and other influences acting on the valvetrain. The main benefit is description various types of surface and design modifications of valvetrains, which are already used or are in development.

This bachelo’s thesis solve the problems abrasion film bearing. The purpose of this thesis was used four type film, ISOFLON, Xylan 1010, DLC a PTFE + Niborit 5P.By one of tendenci is specifi coefficient friction over tribological test. On the next tendenci was size film for and after a tribological test find, elese size abrasion. Was make chemical analyse of all film.To elements interaction study light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy equipped by energy dispersive mikroanalyses.

Presented bachelor's thesis is aimed to research into properties and application of corrosion-resistant steel. There are briefly described types of corrosion and methods, how to protect machines against them, in theoretical part. Thesis is also focused on qua-lities and classification of this steel. In the practical part of thesis there is thorough description of manufacturing pro-cess, which leads to origination of product made from corrosion-resistant steel in Schwer fittings s.r.o. This company have worked at this field since 1998.
