Thermal management system design for cylindrical lithium cell testing
Skalník, Adam ; Stravová, Zuzana (referee) ; Vlach, Radek (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design a device that allows testing of cylindrical lithium cells by testing the load at controlled temperature. To achieve the desired temperature range, a custom thermoelectric model of the TEC cell with temperature dependency of the parameters was developed and a suitable cooling method for the cells was selected. A thermal model was developed for this cooler. A simplified model of the 18650 type lithium battery was created. Based on FEM analysis, the expected temperature loss on the battery, the temperature gradient on the battery and the dynamics of transients were determined. An overall thermal model of the system was developed, according to which the appropriate number and type of TEC cells were selected. Optimal supply currents for this cell configuration were determined and control was designed. The thermal model and the required characteristics were verified on a prototype of this device.
Camera for biological applications
Jurák, Petr ; Slovák, Jiří (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on the design of IP blocks for thermal camera. This termal camera is intended for plant research. The main part of the thermal camera is an infrared detector that detects a frequency in the range of 8 – 14 m. The analogue signal obtained is modified and subsequently digitized. The detector also includes a Peltier device which is designed for both detector cooling and heating, and is controlled by an external signal. The MicroZed development board implements IP blocks. The thermal camera is designed to be controlled from the MicroZed board. Device analysis is first described from the theoretical part to the design of IP blocks.
Possibilities of Using Thermoelectric Converters in Power Industry
Halas, Miroslav ; Bartošík, Tomáš (referee) ; Macháček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with thermoelectric transformers and their application in electrical power engineering. First, a theoretical overview is shown within which major personalities of the thermoelectric field are presented. Then, construction, functionality and fabrication materials of the thermoelectric transformer are outlined. The next part covers utilization of thermoelectric transformers within electrical power engineering through the history up until now. Also major world-leading companies are presented. In the practical part, the possibilities of thermoelectric transformers in conjunction with primary power sources are shown. Then, power output of solar thermoelectric transformer during winter is calculated using balance methods. At the end, a design of thermoelectric transformer exploiting waste heat of coal power plant and its rate of return are presented. In the conclusion, findings made during this study are summed and a complex assessment of the topic is done.
