Interactive architecture
Müller, Tomáš ; Stavric, Milena (referee) ; Kaftan, Martin (advisor)
Interactive architecture The world today is constantly dynamically changing. Along with the world, the environment in which people live is changing as well. Architecture, which has been focused on improving and enhancing the surrounding environment for the benefit of mankind since the beginning of humanity, now has the opportunity to come to life and become interactive thanks to technological advancements. Interactive architecture, which dynamically adapts to changing conditions and human needs, can lay the foundation for a robust and adaptable solution that could contribute to more resilient and sustainable architecture in the future. In this work, the use of contemporary digital design techniques will allow the potential of the ancient art of origami - the art of folding paper - to be combined with today’s technology. Thanks to this connection, it is possible to create architecture that will be able to change and adapt to various human needs. This thesis focuses on the digitisation of origami, the development of structures inspired by the Miura origami pattern, the transition from paper shells to kinetic movable shells, and the development of a digital tool capable of designing and controlling the behaviour of interactive shells. The behaviour of the interactive components will be tested through digital simulations.
The Spectre Everywhere and Nowhere
Staněk, Jiří ; Rathouský, Luděk (referee) ; Mikyta, Svätopluk (advisor)
Robert Longo got into his hands Edmumd Engelman's photo book and according to these photos he created a series of large-scale charcoal drawings entitled: The Freud Drawings. I got into my hands 10 years old newspapers with article including photos foreshadowing time, atmosphere and personality of Freud and Robert Longo's work. I will create installation using my own means of expression that invites you in the Sigmund Freud's room as I imagine it.
Světelný objekt inspirovaný japonskou tradicí
Kogure, Haruka
The aim of this thesis was to examine traditional Japanese lamps and the origami technique. Also, to learn about modern trends in forms of illumination and compare their design among Japan and other countries. From the gathered knowledge a new illumination object inspired by Japanese tradition was designed.
Origami diagram creator
Pecka, Martin ; Petříček, Martin (advisor) ; Podzimek, Andrej (referee)
The main target of the Origamist application is to aid with creating origami diagram manuals. Recently, the most common methods for creating those manuals are drawing the steps in an image editor, or taking photographs of the folded steps and composing them together (again in an image editor). What Origamist brings is a new alternative to these methods. The manual's author gets the possibility to transfer the sequence of paper folds the manual consists of to the Origamist application, which is able to export several types of output - the most favourite (among origami folders) PDF manuals, but also image manuals (as PNG or SVG), and even as an animation of the folding process. There is also the added value to translate the descriptions of the steps to several languages.
Paper folding geometry
Hatschbachová, Jana ; Hromadová, Jana (advisor) ; Surynková, Petra (referee)
Paper folding is an underappreciated method with a number of interesting applications in real life. From Japanese traditional origami we moved to today's use in space research or medicine, all thanks to the application of mathematical principles on it. The work explains the basic rules of paper geometry and its difference from Euclidean geometry. The problems of doubling the cube or trisection of the angle, which cannot be solved in Euclidean geometry, can be solved quite easily by translating the paper. The thesis contains ideas for mathematics teachers from elementary school to high school on how to use paper folding directly in mathematics teaching. Among the ideas we can find a simple verification of the Pythagorean theorem and the construction of conic sections. Physical handling of paper helps to consolidate the topic, develops spatial imagination and dexterity.
Paper folding and its use in geometry and algebra
Termerová, Eliška ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Zamboj, Michal (referee)
This thesis aims to collect examples of the use of paper folding in various mathematical areas. It also demonstrates solutions of ancient mathematical tasks, instructions for modelling regular n-sided polygons, conic sections and areas of trapezoids with the use of paper folding. Paper folding is also used for the proofs of Pythagoras' theorem and algebraic identities. The thesis includes other examples of the use of paper folding as well.
Origami in Primary School Education
MIKULÁŠOVÁ, Veronika
The thesis titled /Origami in primary lessons/ focuses on the practical use of Origami, especially in arts and mathematics classes. It contains lesson plans on various topics and a detailed reflection of the lessons taught at a primary school.
Paper folding as a tool in teaching mathematics
SCHINKOVÁ, Nikol
In my thesis I am dealing with the usage of origami at teaching mathematics. In the first chapters I mention a brief history and kinds of creases such as Huzita axioms etc. In the second part I introduce three chapters concerning folding of structures supported by work-sheets at different difficulty levels. The content of these chapters comprises of conic sections and diameters of trapezoids. The last chapters of the thesis are focused on three kinds of folding: Yoshimura, Miura and modular, which are also used in architecture, house design and astronautics.
Teaching geometry at primary school using origami.
KOLÁŘOVÁ, Magdalena
The master's thesis Teaching geometry at primary school using origami is focused to increasing symmetry knowlidges, especially to reflection symmetry and central symmetry. The thesis contains analysing maths textbooks. It deals with creating worksheets and metodology of them and evaluation of tested worksheets.
