Zajacová, Aneta ; Trojánek, Milan (advisor) ; Jirkovský, Daniel (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Nursing Care in Patients with MRSA" deals with the issue of barrier regimen in the context primarily with golden staphylococcus infection. The aim is to assess the attitudes of nursing staff about nursing care in patients with MRSA, analyze the adherence to contact precautions in the clinical practice and to identify the factors associated with potential non-adherence. The theoretical part of the thesis serves as an introduction to the topic, while the empirical part contains the results of the actual investigation and serves to explore the above objectives. The research method was a self-constructed questionnaire with 33 questions, which was distrubuted among the nursing staff in the surgical and internal inpatient wards of the adult part of Motol University Hospital. Responses from 67 respondents were included and the obtained data were statistically processed. The survey resulted in the following findings: Only 13 respondents (19 %) say that everyone on their ward always adheres to barrier measures. The most common situation where barrier measures are not adhered to is 'acute patient condition' with 27 respondents (40 %) and 'at night' with 12 respondents from the standard ward and only 1 from the ICU. The motivation for more consistent adherence to barrier measures is fear...
Attitude and Motivation of Nurses to Lifelong Learning
Bártlová, Erika ; Jirkovský, Daniel (advisor) ; Dorková, Zlatica (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of nurses' motivation for lifelong learning and their awareness of this topic. Target: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out whether nurses have an overview of the individual forms of lifelong education of non-medical healthcare workers, whether and how they are motivated to participate in them, and what factors prevent them from participating in lifelong education programs. Methods: A questionnaire containing 22 questions was distributed electronically to the nurses. A total of 493 questionnaires were processed of which 348 general nurses, 70 children's nurses, 58 practical nurses, 8 midwives and 8 paramedics participated in the survey. The non-parametric statistical method Pearson's Chi-square was used for statistical data processing. Results: The results show that nurses' knowledge of individual programs and forms of lifelong learning varies depending on their age, length of professional practice and educational attainment. Nurses' interest in participating in lifelong learning programs decreases with increasing age and length of practice and is influenced by workload resulting from staff shortages. The biggest motivating factor turned out to be a higher financial reward. The most important demotivating factor is lack of time. Conclusions:...

Rudolfová, Vendula ; Jirkovský, Daniel (advisor) ; Dorková, Zlatica (referee)
The Abstract Gender stereotypes associated with men working as nurses are currently a topical issue in society. The aim of this study is to map out students' stereotypical perceptions of men as students or employees in the role of a general nurse. The theoretical part of the study defines stereotypes as well as the roles assigned to nurses and men as their performers. Furthermore, it describes the position of men in the workplace and during their studies, and whether stereotypical thinking affects their careers. The empirical part of the study utilizes data obtained through a questionnaire survey using a structured questionnaire of its own construction, which was distributed to students of General Nursing and Pediatric Nursing at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, in printed form. Out of the total number of distributed questionnaires, 97 were completed in full. Detailed results are presented in tabular summaries and pie charts. The evaluation of the questionnaire survey demonstrated that stereotypes prevail more in lay society than among the students themselves. From this, it can be inferred that the students themselves do not consider men in the role of a nurse to be an unusual phenomenon. The majority of students perceive men rather as beneficial in this profession and do not focus on...

Interviews were conducted with pediatric nurses to achieve these goals and methodologies. Additional interviews were conducted with parents of children with enuresis, and all interview results were categorized into 10 categories. The research revealed that nurses are knowledgeable about the specifics of nursing care for children with enuresis and have experience with these patients. The schools participating in the research are the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the South Bohemian University, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava and the 2nd Faculty of Medicine. The research population for the research data consisted of 96 respondents. The quantitative results showed the following. The first hypothesis, that the greatest motivating factor for the profession of pediatric nurse is a positive relationship with children, was not confirmed. According to the graph, the strongest motivating factor for studying pediatric nursing is the response of helping children, which was converted with a score of 3.9 on the scoring scale. A positive relationship with children was converted to a score of 3.8. Job security was converted to a score of 3.5. Job prestige was converted to a score of 3.1 on the scoring scale. The least motivating factor (compared to the other responses) is financial reward, which was converted to a score of 2.6. The second hypothesis, that preferences for practice in the future profession of pediatric nursing vary with the length of study, was not supported. The third hypothesis, that preferences for practice in the future profession of pediatric nursing change depending on the form of study, was not confirmed. The second and third hypotheses were tested by questions that were only addressed to second and third year students. The statistical chi-square test was used to test the validity of hypotheses H2 and H3. The null hypothesis was tested against the alternative hypothesis at a significance level of 5 %. The bachelor's thesis can provide a closer look at the motivation for studying for a future career as a pediatric nurse directly from the perspective of pediatric nursing students. It can also serve as feedback for faculty to determine if students are satisfied with their studies. The results of this work were presented at the SVOČ and will be shared with the participating faculty.
History and development of intensive care
KADLECOVÁ, Eva
The thesis deals with the history and development of intensive care with emphasis on the Czech lands. Its aim is to describe the historical development of intensive care and nursing in the Czech lands with an emphasis on aspects (such as new techniques, devices, etc.) that have determined this process. The core of the thesis consists of three main chapters. The first one establishes the basic premises of the work, focusing on the definition of intensive care, the history of medicine, and nursing. The second main chapter analyzes the beginnings of intensive care in an international context, emphasizing the influence of Florence Nightingale on the emergence of intensive care and the reflection of her work in the Czech lands. The third chapter describes the history and development of intensive care and nursing in the Czech lands, with this exposition being divided into chronologically arranged subchapters. The thesis is primarily based on historical sources (primarily contemporary publications and journal articles reflecting the discourse of the time) and professional literature. The communist Czechoslovakia period is reflected as an important period when contact between Czechoslovak medicine and Western knowledge was significantly limited, and intensive care as well as nursing were heavily ideologically conditioned, leading to lagging behind the West in many aspects.

Man in management of nursing

The second aim of the present work was to find out how men working in these positions perceive themselves. The research was conducted by means of a questionnaire survey with mid-level NPs and interviews with men in nursing managerial positions.
