Korolov, Ivan
The diploma thesis is aimed at the evaluation of regulatory changes' impact on the Ukrainian retail industry. The essence of research is to empirically assess the influence of the identified institutional changes on the retail enterprises performance. The reference period focuses on 2009-2016, due to firm-level data availability and a bright palette of establishment shifts. Influence of the key regulatory changes is assessed on the performance of more than 9 000 entire industry enterprises and separately on SMEs. The thesis uses panel data regression analysis with fixed effects for evaluation and incorporated robustness check. Results indicate the negative influence of enterprise taxation changes in the year of shift. However, changes in the business regulatory environment are beneficial for retailers. Overall, the Ukrainian "pro-European" business deregulation policy bear positive results in the context of retail enterprise performance. Comparing the results for the entire retail market and SMEs minor differences are noted. Effects of the regression analysis variables agree with economic theory and expectations from the theoretical background of the work.
