Reverent commemoration of the annihilation of the village Lidice in Kladno Gymnasium

The presented diploma work under the title Reverent commemoration of the annihilation of the village Lidice in Kladno Gymnasium deals primarily with the course of this memorial action and informing grammar school students about historical events which happened on its field. Then it tries to give an idea of problematic of passing the historical awareness to further generations and ways which can lead to this public education. The work also tries to reflect the current situation in informing next generations and its research is grounded in tangible and memorial resources, thus literature and interviews with narrators. It is divided into three explanatory chapters. The introduction part occupies with methodological methods, based on which this one was worked out, research of information sources including available literature, archival or website sources as well as other kinds of backgrounds. It offers a possibility of getting to know a method of oral history, which are the roots of this work, to its reader. It also includes the process in details from picking and addressing the narrators to course of all made interviews, where there were eight of them recorder for the aim of this presented diploma work. The Culture of Memory: The Destiny od Lidice Memorial

This Bachelor work, dealing with a topic of Culture of Memory: The Destiny of Lidice Memorial, discusses primarily history of the Memorial built in the area of Lidice tragedy and declining visit rate as well as public interest in this sacred place after 1989. That is divided into four explanation captures. The introduction pays attention to general characterization and history of memorials and monuments, focused on their function and utilization. The second part commemorates history, the act of Lidice destruction in June 1942 itself, including other fates of Lidice inhabitants and also international acclaim caused by that unprecedented Nazi crime. That handles with 10th June 1942 in Lidice, shooting of men, abducting of women and children to Kladno Grammar School and following transport to concentration camps. This chapter further it describes the destiny of Lidice with its survivors after the Second World War. The international reaction immediately after the burning down, gained from those local media sources, belongs to this second part too. The third part devotes to proper history and story of the Memorial. All this commemorates that the Memorial is a component of extensive commemorative area, which completes the sacred zone of former Lidice with the Rose Garden and the Monument of Children. The...

Post-war course of Lidice - reverent memories and life in new Lidice

The author deals with some specific problems of the post-war development of Lidice between 1945 and 1989. The diplomante ponders upon the questions of memory on Lidice, Lidice memory and Lidice as a place of memoir. In her introduction, based on numerous talks with the Lidice narrators, the author tries to find out what kind of memory place Lidice is and who it may concern. The follow-up chapters reflect the worldwide reception of Lidice tragedy; moreover, they feature some talks with the women named Lidice after the village. Next thematic part is focused on the actual construction of the village as well as on two organizations that were in charge of the whole building process: Society for Lidice Reconstruction on one hand and British movement "Lidice Shall Live" on the other hand. Author also introduces the movement founder Barnett Stross. Further chapters describe a typical course of that time reverent memories in Lidice using some articles from Rude Pravo and showing the way how Lidice was misused by the communist regime to serve as a propaganda of socialism. Popularization of history at the example of Lidice and Terezin

The essence of bachelor thesis Popularization of history at the example of Lidice and Terezín is to define the methods of presentation and popularization of Lidice Memorial and Terezín Memorial. The aim of the theoretical framework is mainly to outline the topic of collective memory in it´s basic forms. The topic continues with definitions of collective memory products as are collective trauma and politics of memory. The separate chapter is dedicated to the bearers of memory among which are museums, memorials, books, movies and internet. Last part is focused on historical context. The purpose of the practical framework is to apply the theoretical base on the mentioned memorials and to analyze their activities, which are helping to popularize history. The thesis presents form and appearance of the both memorials Terezín and Lidice, their projects, education programs and also movie and book production.
