The economic and cultural development of the township of Lhenice in the 19th century

The diploma thesis "The Economic and Cultural Development of the Township of Lhenice in the 19th Century" examines the transformation of life in the township of Lhenice during the so-called long 19th century, a period marked by the beginning of modernity, the industrial revolution, urbanization, the rise of nation states, nationalism and the struggle for national identity, and the ongoing National Revival in the Czech lands. The analysis focuses on key aspects of economic changes, such as changes in agriculture, the development of crafts and industry, and the decline of the market system, as well as on cultural changes, such as the emergence of organised social life or the background to public festivals or other celebrations. The study reveals how the local economy responded to economic development and its challenges and technological advances, how the local community dealt with the gradual institutionalization of poverty and the poverty question in general, and how the whole society was affected by the broader socio-political changes in the Austrian monarchy and the Czech lands. About the organization and functioning of the local administration in Lhenice at the turn of 18th and 19th century

The aim of this diploma thesis is to present the impact of the Josephine reforms of town-councils on the administrative development of a minor South Bohemian liege town. The work is divided into several chapters, which study the local administrative organization in Lhenice just before the mentioned reform and the life of the local inhabitants at the turn of the 18th and 19th century. Being put into context, there was even outlined the progress of establishing regulated town-councils in some Bohemian and Moravian towns and the influence of no implementation of this system on the administration functioning in the town.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to show the disputes among burghers of Lhenice during the 18th century. The historical development of this small town in the Early Modern Period and the form of the local administration in 18th century is briefly outlined in order to know the context. The analysis of one of the local extant books became the basis of this bachelor thesis. This book contains different reconciliations among neighbours of Lhenice during 1733-1775 as well.

This work is engaged in theme of orphan's agenda and care for orphans in region Prácheň in 18th century. First part this work is engaged in law limitation of orphan's position and insurance orphan's and guardian's charge in law codices. This part represents evolution of law position from Roman period until law codification of Pavel Kristian from Koldín. One of important factor for orphan's life was guardian, therefore is in this part also limitation for guardian's charge. Second part of work is engaged in position of orphans in Czech towns in 18th century. Work is in next chapters engaged in towns that were in property of family Schwarzenberg. In this chapter are this town introduce. In this part of work are further manners of leading of orphan's agenda and his regulating, then how intervened suzerain in leading of orphan's agenda. Also this chapter describe instruction for leading of orphan's agenda in manor Netolice, what is preserved in State regional archives in Třeboň. Fundamental chapters are engaged in orphan's agenda in a several towns in region Prácheň. This chapter above all engage in three kinds of orphan's agenda, then orphan's books, orphan's accounts and confronting of orphans. Orphan's books are introduced from towns Lhenice, Netolice, Volary and Bavorov. Orphan's accounts are introduced from towns Lhenice, Netolice, Volary and Záblatí and confrontig of orphans are introduced from towns Lhenice, Netolice and Volary. All kinds of orphan's agenda are presented in their formal aspect and also in contents aspect. Here is put down evolution of orphan's agenda and changes in their leading. All work goes out from wells, which are deposited in State district archives in Prachatice, State district archives in Strakonice and also in State regional archives in Třeboň. In Prachatice and Strakonice are depositing all kinds of orphan's agenda and this is important for comparing their method of leading.
