Kameníková, Denisa ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Frombergerová, Anna (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on exploring teachers' attitudes towards LGBT+ students and LGBT+ issues within schools. The theoretical section of the thesis establishes fundamental concepts and phenomena related to LGBT+ adolescents, as well as attitudes and prejudices towards LGBT+ students. The primary emphasis is on LGBT+ students and issues in the school environment. The objective of this study is to investigate the attitudes of secondary school teachers towards their LGBT+ students. For the research, a qualitative approach was employed, and data collection was carried out through individual semi-structured interviews, using pre- prepared question set. The interviews involved 5 female and 3 male respondents. The data gathered was then analyzed using thematic analysis, leading to the identification of 13 themes and 20 sub-themes. These findings are visually represented to enhance clarity and to demonstrate potential interrelationships among them. The results of this study eveal the complexity of teachers' attitudes, highlighting the diverse components that contribute to their perception of a singular subject. Furthermore, the research explores additional themes such as the inclusion of LGBT+ topics in the classroom, specific actions taken by teachers to support LGBT+ learners, and recommendations...

Polách, Dominik ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Topolovská, Tereza (referee)
This thesis "LGBT+ topics as curricula in foreign language education in the Czech schools" deals with the issue of integrating LGBT+ and gender-related topics into foreign language teaching. This thesis builds on previous research in the field of LGBT+ in Czech schools. Through a qualitative study in the form of semi-structured interviews with foreign language teachers in Czech primary and secondary schools, answers are sought to the questions of how are LGBT+ and gender topics integrated into foreign language teaching and how are these topics dealt with in foreign language classes. Teachers' perspectives on the integration of these topics into language teaching and possible problems that may arise when integrating these topics into language teaching are also researched. It was found that in most cases these topics arise spontaneously in foreign language classes, usually from the learners' side, who find these issues present and interesting. Teachers perceive certain shortcomings in the teaching materials in terms of integrating these topics, but they find the incorporation in the curriculum sufficient in terms of the general theme of tolerance and respect. And in relation to the theme of tolerance and respect, they consider the integration of LGBT+ and gender issues into language teaching to be...
Transition as a way to self-acceptance
BÍLKOVÁ, Michaela
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of transition, in the social, medical, and legal spheres. It explores the lives of trans people from their first awareness of their gender identity, through coming out, hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgery. It traces the critical moments of transition and complications that arise during it. It also explores socially conditioned attitudes and negative social reception. The empirical part is developed using a qualitative strategy, in-depth interviews with people who have gone through the process of transition. It explores how trans people experience their transition, how the decision to transition is made, their satisfaction with their transition, and more. It also focuses on the reaction of the close people and surroundings and the subsequent impact on the trans person.
Social Work and Transgender People
KUČERA, Charlie
This thesis explores the topic of transgender people as clients of social work. Its goal is to examine transgender experiences in the context of Czech social work. The first part is theoretical and focuses on terminology and current situation, mentioning legal framework and possible developements. The theoretical part includes a list of LGBT+ organisations which provide diverse kinds of support to transgender people. I chose qualitative approach for exploring this topic and conducted narrative interviews. For this purpose I contacted transgender people who had the experience of being clients of social services. I analysed the outputs by the open coding method inspired by the Grounded Theory. Based on the comparison between the interviews and expert advice I found out the following: the basic need among transgender clients of social work is for their experienced gender identity to be recognised and respected. It is also important for the quality of their mutual interaction that the social worker is aware of transgender issues. However, based on the collected transgender experiences, those needs are not always met. The level of knowledge on this topic and their stance varies among social workers in the Czech Republic. Finally, this thesis poses a question, whether social services providing accomodation might potentially expose transgender clients to more confrontational situations where gender is an improtant factor. Yet, it is concluded that the overall approach of the service matters the most. The results of this work will be presented to the FOKUS České Budějovice NGO employees.
