Čadil, David ; Soukup, Jaromír (advisor) ; Romancov, Michael (referee)
The bachelor's thesis "The Importance and the Status of Crown Dependencies in the United Kingdom" focuses on the status and importance of the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey. These islands are not sovereign states, they are under the British administration. The United Kingdom handles their defense and international representation. The Crown Dependencies however possess a great amount of independence. They have their own legislative bodies, governments and tax and judicial systems. The head of each island is the British monarch. Each island also has its own currency, which, however, is tied to the British Pound at a ratio of one to one. The islands are regarded as important off-shore financial centers. The goals of this thesis are to find out the islands' current status and significance, and to debate their further development.
