The aim of the diploma thesis is the graphic processing of the monographic publication of Kateřina Šedá. In my work I refer to the cooperation of designer, author and curator, with many aspects that influence us in the process of creation and define the result. The work of Kateřina Šedá consists predominantly of participatory actions, often linked to a specific place (excluded locality, housing estate, village), with events, interactions and the experiences of many people being the key output. The aim of the monograph is to provide a clear report on major authorial projects in one comprehensive publication. Considering the quantity, variety and complexity of Kateřina Šedá’s work, the work also includes searching for solutions and systems to process projects to a limited extent.

Už jste někdy zkoušeli volat z telefonní budky v Galerii výtvarného umění v Ostravě (GVUO)? Zajímá vás, co, nebo kdo se ozve ze sluchátka? Červené telefonní budky jsou součástí nové výstavy Kateřiny Šedé Bedřichovický poledník, kterou autorka uzavírá dlouholetý projekt v obci Bedřichovice s názvem Od nevidím do nevidím (2011–2015). Do pětiletého projektu byli pravidelně zapojováni obyvatelé Bedřichovic, kteří například v roce 2011 performovali v Londýně. Londýn se následně v roce 2015 přenesl do Bedřichovic. Kateřina Šedá totiž nechala postavit na bedřichovickém náměstí jeho ikonické motivy, jako je červený autobus a červené telefonní budky. Interaktivní výstava v Ostravě, která zahrnuje všech 5 projektů spojených s Bedřichovicemi, bude zahájena ve čtvrtek 14. listopadu v 17 hodin. V Domě umění, GVUO bude k vidění do 26. ledna 2020.

Acquisitions 2018 GVUO: Kateřina Šedá – The Bedřichovice Meridian
Galerie výtvarného umění v Ostravě, příspěvková organizace
Akce Kateřiny Šedé jsou nepřehlédnutelné (jako poslední uveďme UNES-CO, jímž vloni reprezentovala Českou republiku na mezinárodním bienále architektury v Benátkách). Výstava v GVUO představí jeden z autorčiných časově nejrozsáhlejších projektů, který odstartovala v londýnské Tate Modern (Od nevidím do nevidím, 2011). Zamýšlené pětileté budování svátku v obci dne 3. září završila velkorysou přestavbou bedřichovického náměstí s prvky odkazujícími k slavné Tate Modern, včetně ikon londýnské metropole (Bedřichovice nad Temží, 2015). Výstava významné české autorky je druhým projektem v rámci cyklu Zisky 2018 GVUO, v němž jsou nákupy uměleckých děl do sbírek GVUO chápány nejen jako další číselná položka v přírůstkové knize, ale především jako duchovní zisk nemateriální povahy pro veřejnost.

Art interventions in public space and their educational potential (theoretical thesis)

The theoretical diploma thesis presented deals with chosen artistic activities within a public space and outlines their educational purposes for pupils of grammar and high schools. For this purpose, the artistic movements and terms which are related to art in a public space are clarified at first, the problems in education of the current art lessons then follow. The thesis is concluded with the analysis of the three contemporary artistic activities which took place in a public space within the domestic surroundings.
