Semantic Enrichment Component

This master's thesis describes Semantic Enrichment Component (SEC), that searches entities (e.g., persons or places) in the input text document and returns information about them. The goals of this component are to create a single interface for named entity recognition tools, to enable parallel document processing, to save memory while using the knowledge base, and to speed up access to its content. To achieve these goals, the output of the named entity recognition tools in the text was specified, the tool for storing the preprocessed knowledge base into the shared memory was implemented, and the client-server scheme was used to create the component.

Integration and Optimization of KNOTIS Information System Modules

This thesis deals with implementing required changes in the Knowledge Technology Research Group information system (KNOTIS) to integrate improved functionality prepared in previous years. Integration was composed of changes in the functionality of the information system, implemented in PHP language, and SQL query optimisation. This thesis also includes taking the necessary steps to upgrade other information systems included. Namely, it is the documentation platform MediaWiki and the flexible project management web application Redmine. All parts were integrated by optimising slow-running SQL queries, repairing errors in PHP code and getting familiar with issues regarding the transition to new versions of PHP and MySQL. MediaWiki and Redmine upgrade was ensured by documenting exact step-by-step procedures to ensure a problem-free transition to newer versions. This thesis results in an information system suitable to be deployed with the newest software versions and enhanced functionality. Finally, deployment on the web server of the FIT BUT Knowledge technology research group was successful.

60th anniversary of The Knot in the Handkerchief

The bachelor thesis "Hermína Týrlová and her work" with the subtitle "The 60th anniversary of The Knot in the Handkerchief by Hermína Týrlová" consists of the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part is fully dedicated to the Czech animator, to her life, work and to Týrlová´s personality. Furthermore, the work analyzes the Czech animated children´s film between years 1935 and 1965 and its status in the world. The practical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the realization of posters for the 60th anniversary of The Knot in the Handkerchief, which was held the year of the assignment of the bachelor thesis.

Algebraic structures for knot coloring

RNDr. David Stanovský, Ph.D., Department of Algebra Abstract: This thesis is devoted to the study of the algebraic structures providing coloring invariants for knots and links. The main focus is on the relationship between these invariants. First of all, we characterize the binary algebras for arc and semiarc coloring. We give an example that the quandle coloring invariant is strictly stronger than the involutory quandle coloring invariant, and we show the connection between the two definitions of a biquandle, arising from different approaches to semiarc coloring. We use the relationship between links and braids to conclude that quandles and biquandles yield the same coloring invariants. Keywords: knot, coloring invariant, quandle, biquandle iii
