Low sinuosity rivers with example of sediments of klikov formation from locality Hosín-Orty, Late Crataceous, České Budějovice basin
Kavková, Radana ; Martínek, Karel (advisor) ; Opluštil, Stanislav (referee)
The literature research part of this bachelors thesis is devoted to the definition of river styles, namely to those with low sinuosity. The aim was the description of types of deposits and diagnostic features of these rivers. Available literature, especially scientific papers devoted to fluvial sedimetology served as the sources of information for this study. Summarization of processes and products of these river styles and definition of different approaches to their study were achieved. Practical part of the thesis explores the fluvial style in Hosín-Orty region. The aim was to interpret sedimentary environment. Litology of four selected outcrops, from which fotomozaics were prepared, was studied in detail. Facies and architectural elements recognized in outcrops were defined. Furthermore, measured sedimentary sections of these outcrops were delineated. Character of sedimentary structures and the sedimentary body geometries point to river environment of sedimentation. Low spread of palaeocurrent vectors is interpreted as low sinuosity river system. The absence of structures typical for anastomosing river style finally allow us to interpret the river environment as braided. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
