Jan Opolský the Poet
Martykánová, Aneta ; Merhaut, Luboš (advisor) ; Wiendl, Jan (referee)
The bachelor's thesis chronologically follows the changes and constants in Jan Opolský's almost forty-year poetry career. Its development went from decadent symbolism, when it depicted fleeting moods, dreamy landscapes, loneliness and the burden of life, to historical and legendary themes, irony and finally to melancholic anthems on the theme of the native Krkonoše landscape. The poems resemble static paintings, as if painted still lifes. He applies his knowledge of artistic materials and the ability of suggestive descriptions in them. He left a mark in literary history with his first collection, Svět smutných. Key words Jan Opolský, poems, Czech symbolism and decadence, stylization, Nová Paka
