This bachelor's thesis focuses on intrauterine growth restriction of piglets. The first part of the thesis deals with sow hybridization, the creation of super-fertile sow lines, and how breeding can affect litter size. The second part focuses on the issues of highly fertile sows, particularly in terms of nutrition, housing, delivery, lactation, weaning, and preparation for the next pregnancy. The third part focuses on intrauterine growth restriction of piglets. This section describes what this condition means and what can influence it. The fourth part deals with problems in piglets with intrauterine growth restriction. Methods for the application of artificial milk, the use of surrogate sows, or split nursing are described here.
Changes in placental angiogenesis and their impact on fetal intrauterine growth restriction

Any pathological interference with normal vascular development of placenta may have a critical impact on fetal growth and development. The proliferation and differentiation of several cell types play a very important role in the vascular system of placenta. The main factors taking part in the vascular development of placenta include cell elements (e.g. trofoblast, stromal chorion cells, haemangiogenic progenitors), the extracellular matrix, growth factors and cytokines (e.g. VEGF, PlGF, Ang-1,2 and bFGF). The extrinsic factors may also influence the partial oxygen pressure, nutritients availability, and/or the blood perfusion in placenta. Placental ischaemia leading to the worsening of uteroplacentar perfusion is the most common cause of the intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). The IUGR development is then the result of insufficient prolongation, branching, and dilatation of capillary loops during the formation of terminal villi. Published studies focusing on growth factors in placentas from physiological pregnancies and pregnancies with IUGR do not give clear results. This BSc. Thesis is a review focused on up-to-date-known data concerning changes in placental angiogenesis and their impact on IUGR. Key words: placenta, angiogenesis, IUGR, pregnancy
Relation between cardiovascular microRNAs and pregnancy-related complications

During the pregnancy, there are many complications, which can affect a fetal development and eventually, its or mother's life. Pre-eclampsia is one of these complications. It is a hypertensive disorder, which appears during the pregnancy. Another example of these complications is an intrauterine growth restriction. It is a condition, when the fetus is not able to reach its genetical growth potential. Both of those pathological disorders are accompanied by changes in microRNA gene expression in placenta, for example miR-16, miR-21, miR-210. Knowledge about these changes in gene expression could represent unique instruments in the field of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis of these disorders. This could be benefitial due to the fact, that both of these disorders are responsible for increasing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. This work focused on microRNAs, their expression in aformentioned disorders and benefits, which could bring in diagnostics. In this work these two disorders, characteristics of microRNAs and their biogenesi are described. MicroRNAs are interesting for us as potential biomarkers for noninvasive prenatal diagnostics becouse they are present in body fluids, such as plasma, breast milk or amniotic fluid and they are not subject of rapid degradation. The target of this study was to find out whether motor disorders are more common in children with a history of SGA (IUGR) than those of general population. The test group and the general population group underwent kinesiological examination by aspects and a battery of MABC-2 tests. This hypothesis has not been proven. In addition, the thesis aimed to evaluate the possible link between the motor manifestation at the early age and the age of two and three years. Differences in growth parameters in SGA / IUGR children and patiens with growth hormone deficiency treated with recombinant growth hormone

In the Czech Republic is born to 5 % of SGA / IUGR children, about 5, 000 children a year, and their incidence is increasing. In 10 - 15 % does not occur postnatal compensation growth acceleration and growth retardation is then further deepens. Since 2003, these children can be treated by recombinant growth hormone in supraphysiological doses. Master thesis brings informations about SGA / IUGR children and their growth parameters during the first 2 years from the beginning of treatment when the monitoring was carried out at three - month intervals. The results are compared with the group of patients treated with growth hormone for growth hormone deficiency. Growth data was processed by a group of 57 SGA / IUGR children, which was compared with data of 34 children with growth hormone deficiency treated between 2003-2015 with growth hormone. Treatment of both groups of patients was carried out by a suitable therapeutic protocol, with the dose of GH by the respective diagnosis. These parameters were monitored: body height and weight, growth rate, BMI and weight - height ratio of patients. SGA / IUGR and GHD patients showed different growth profile in the initial phase of treatment when GHD patients had higher acceleration peak after 3 months of starting treatment and steeper increase in growth rate....

Intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR / SGA) - causes, clinical view, consequences

Deficient intrauterine growth may point to a serious health problem of fetus. It is associated with increased perinatal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. Long-term health consequences have been reported in IUGR / SGA children. There are many factors leading to intrauterine growth retardation. What is important is early diagnosis and distinction of children with prenatal growth deficiency (IUGR) and children constitutionally small for gestational age (SGA). This bachelor thesis summarizes basic knowledge of this disease and describes the various practices for the treatment of growth hormone.
