Mix/Match Brno
Denissenko, Daniil ; Havliš, Karel (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
Contemporary large cities are facing a housing crisis, which includes insufficient residential units, soaring rents, and insufficient capacity to meet the demand for affordable living. One pressing issue is the scarcity of temporary accommodations for students and living spaces for recent graduates embarking on their careers amidst steep rental prices. The project explores innovative housing solutions tailored to specified social groups. Implemented in the gap between two existing structures on Hlinky Street, opposite the Brno Exhibition Centre in the historic Old-Brno district, it presents affordable communal living for students, accessible housing for graduates, and integrates commercial amenity, which can thrive in the urban structure of the area.

Multifunctional house in a gap
Vencovská, Tereza ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Elešová, Klára (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Utíkalová, Ivana (advisor)
The subject of my bachelor’s thesis is the design of a new Multifunctional house on a gap in Hlinky street in Brno, Pisárky. The land has a great depth and a relatively small width due to the character of the gap, located on a southern slope. The building uses the entire width of the gap and respects the surrounding buildings with its height. In the neighbourhood, there are public buildings for education and student dormitories, administrative buildings, multifunctional buildings and detached houses. The urban design is based on the character of the plot and the surrounding buildings. The building is composed of 3 parts connected by an underground garage. The entire complex is accessed from Hlinky street through the main building, which respects the street line unlike the original building. Two other objects are located in the garden. The architectural design is based on simple cubic forms with a brick facade and large windows. The objects are grouped into an atrium. The object in the gap consists mainly of public spaces. There is a café with background and a stationery shop on the ground floor, open-space offices on the 2nd and 3rd floor, and two maisonnettes on the 5th and 6th floor. On the ground floor, there are cellars, warehouses and the technical background of the building. The objects in the garden serve as a residential and administrative building with flats 1 + 1 to 3 + 1 and rentable offices or studios. There is an atrium between the houses which serves as a half-open space for the residents and employees of the building. Parking is provided in an underground garage with 17 parking spaces including 1 parking space for the disabled. The garage is located on the ground floor underneath the atrium and the objects located in the garden. The garage is accessed by means of a ramp that runs through neighbouring plots of Vinařská Street. An easement will be signed with the owner of the land on which the ramp is located.

Condominium Hlinky in the city centre of Brno
Tomický, Ondřej ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
In my bachelor thesis I further develop the architectural design I worked out during the fifth semester, at the subject AG034. My work was led by Ing. arch. Marcela Uřídilová. Now, I have elaborated the study led by doc. Ing. arch. Juraj Dulenčín, Ph.D., and Ing. Dušan Hradil, on the level of Documentation for building permit, and subsequently on the level of Documentation for Construction Execution. The theme of this work is the design of a multifunctional town house in a gap site between two existing buildings in Hlinky street in Brno. The 9.4-meter-wide gap is in a street with terraced houses, right next to the public transport stop, opposite the main entrance to the Brno Exhibition Center. The house has one basement and five above-ground floors, is based on a foundation slab and finished with a flat roof. It has a longitudinal wall construction system; the load is transmitted by reinforced concrete monolithic walls and ceilings. The house creates a height transition between both adjoining buildings. In the basement is located the technical facilities of the whole building, on the ground floor there is the main and secondary entrance, entrance for cars and the access to the parking stackers with eight parking places. On the 2nd floor is located a studio and office with a common hall. The 3rd, 4th and 5th floors contains two luxury maisonettes. The common partition between both apartments is located on the 4th floor. Across the entire height of the house pervades the inner core of vertical routes - staircase and elevator. The main mass of the house is aligned between adjoining buildings. On the south side, the last fifth floor is lightly indented from the street. On the north side, a mass of the space parking protrudes from the main mass of the building into the slope of Žlutý kopec. Because the building plot is enclosed by adjoining houses on two sides, the only free facades are oriented to the south and to the north.
