"SKYSCRAPERS" - the architectural study of high-rise buildings near the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno
Obtulovič, Marek ; Sátora, Josef (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
In this diploma thesis, I have tried to design a high-rise building in Brno and offer new opportunities for built -up areas in a manner that respects the future of urban development. I have applied the principles of the nature patterns on the very structure of the building and thus I have reached the perfection of nature which in my view offers an elegant, simple and already proven solution.

Measurement of changes in the inclination of the Velký Kosíř lookout tower structure due to the influence of wind stress
Smetana, Jonáš ; Bárta, Ladislav (referee) ; Bureš, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issue of displacements and deformations of building constructions. Specifically, it deals with changes in the inclination of the Velký Kosíř lookout tower structure due to wind stresses. The first part of the thesis deals with the theoretical description of the issue of displacements and deformations of buildings and measurement methods. The second part presents the testing of the geodetic method used for dynamic measurement. This involves setting up a total station in an automatic tracking mode and aiming a reflecting prism. The third part then deals with the actual measurement of the lookout tower Velký Kosíř, evaluation of the stage measurement, interpretation of the results and comparison of the methods used. These methods are represented by the polar method in a standard mode and the polar method in the mode of automatic tracking of the reflection prism and measurements of dynamic acceleration using accelerometer. The final objective is an evaluation of the inclinations under given wind conditions and the evaluation of the lookout tower inclination in the long term.
RING! - Completion of the Ring Road in Brno
Šabo, Andrej ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Pelčák, Petr (advisor)
The concept of completion of the urban circuit in Brno is based on contrast of the classic block build-up area and the vertical elements that come in the form of high-rise buildings. The designed object combines the functions of housing, recreation, service and offices in close relation to the horizontal element of pedestrian way on the viaduct. Simple masses contain the adequate features for the modern contemporary residential areas close to the city center of Brno.

Town planing study "Zbrojovka"
Bílek, František ; Dominik, Vladimír (referee) ; Herzan, Radovan (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is a revitalization of the grounds once belonging to Zbrojovka Brno. These grounds are in the zoning map defined as “brownfield”. Within Brno’s limits, the area has an extremely convenient location. Since the grounds are situated in the central part of Brno, the complex is in terms of traffic and transport in the vicinity of both, the current and the newly planned ring-road. Important factors influencing the project are the river Svitava which borders the west side of the area, and a railroad corridor skirting the east side of the location. Assigned area was, for the purposes of this thesis, expanded by the grounds once belonging to Zetor and the adjoining area towards Markéty Kuncové Street. Several buildings from the former grounds, which fit in into the urban concept and were in good technical conditions, have been preserved. From a functional point of view, the newly designed grounds will meet all the requirements for a fully independent municipal district. The multifunctional development contains primarily housing complexes, administrative buildings, public facilities, recreational areas, as well as other functional structures. The urban concept of this project is a result of a study of surrounding blocks. Based on an analysis of the size and height of these buildings, an idealized block was designed and then recreated into a symmetrical raster of blocks with the street width of 20m. This raster was subsequently applied to newly designed points of entry into the area. Total urban and mass proposal of the development areahas been further influenced by principal conceptual points. Among these conceptual points belong the perspective axes which connect the conceptual points with an orientation point, in this case the former factory’s smokestack. Creating a new arm for the Svitava River is another point. Taking into account that the whole vicinity of the factory grounds is without quality public greenery elements.
