Design of DVD/Blu-Ray player
Blahynka, Roman ; Sládek, Josef (referee) ; Zvonek, Miroslav (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis concerns the design of a desktop DVD player. The text comprehensively describes the design development – it starts with an analysis of the history of desktop players from their inception to contemporary trends, continues with a breakdown of the technical requirements, and ends by describing the design process itself. The last part of the text contains detailed description of all the aspects of the final design and its visual documentation.
Various File Systems Used on Different Storage Devices
Bortlová, Pavlína ; Krčma, Martin (referee) ; Lojda, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with storing data on various storage devices, namely on the HDD, SSD, flash drives, SD cards. In the teoretical part are discussed principles of functions storage media and data storage structure through various file system. In the practical part was measured read and write speeds selected combinations of file systems (FAT, NTFS, XFS, ext4, btrfs, exFAT, JFFS, F2FS) and storage devices (HDD, SSD, flash drive, sd card).
Data Backup and Data Storages
Vavřík, Richard ; Kruljacová, Anna (referee) ; Kříž, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the problematics of data backup and restoration and data storages. It consists of three main parts. The theoretical basis, analysis of the current state and the solution design. The output of this thesis is the design of an optimal solution of data backup.

PROBA3 Coronograph System Progress Report
Horodyská, Petra ; Melich, Radek
The scope of this document is to provide to CSL and ESTEC a progress report of ongoing activities as described in Project Management Plan v1_1. TOPTEC main activities cover realization of coronagraph optical elements, housing for this elements, HDD and the Lyot stop realization. In year 2016, the DM model was finished and delivered and the STM model was competely realized and delivered. Toptec started to prepare the documents for Critical Design Review (CDR).
Network attached storage
Pavlíček, Ladislav ; Vokoun, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pavlík, Jan (referee)
The thesis explores the subject of data storage options, focusing on Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution and its potential target users. The theoretical part of the thesis reviews the overall data storage solutions used in the past, compared to the current ones. The further description of NAS is provided, highlighting its specifications and possibilities for use. In addition, the analysis of different methods of data storing on a hard disc drive is conducted and resulting data reliability is examined and assessed. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to recommend NAS for suitable user groups based on their needs and habits. To gather relevant data and identify those characteristics, the research method of survey based data collection is being used. As a result, the particular potential user group for NAS, currently unaware of its benefits and uses, is identified. This group is characterized by its online content use and consumption patterns in areas of video and music content consumption, photo sharing, file backing-up habits, cloud usage, etc. Furthermore, the thesis expands on the potential benefits for those users and provides practical suggestions for use in regard to their identified needs. In the last part of the thesis, collected survey data are being compared to the related national survey data provided by the Czech Statistical Office. The concluding analysis reveals a trend of decreasing interest between year 2015 and 2016 for using cloud data storage solutions in general, mainly in terms of storing and sharing of photos, movies and music. Finally, the limitations of survey data collection are being discussed, focusing on particular internal and external factors which could have influenced the survey results.

Future of disk arrays in SSD era
Sládek, Petr ; Koubský, Petr (advisor) ; Vojta, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis aims at verification of using emerging Solid-State drives in disk arrays. The advent of SSD disks caused a small revolution in area of data storage, because the growth performance of hard drives has been slow compared to other PC components. But an entirely different principle of operation could mean compatibility problems between SSD and related technologies, such as RAID. This thesis aims at analyzing all the relevant technologies, mainly HDD, SSD and RAID. To achieve this objective, information from literature, articles and other appropriate sources will be used. Other objectives of this thesis are to determine how much are the SSDs suitable for use in the disk array, because low performance RAID controllers or different principles of operation could limit their efficiency. This question should be answered by submission of selected types of storage arrays to synthetic and practical tests of performance. The final goal is to use financial analysis of the test solutions as a shared file storage. Today, remote access to data is used by a wide range of job positions. Slow storage could mean inefficient use of working time and therefore unnecessary financial costs. The goal of my work is primarily to provide answers to the questions mentioned above. Currently it is very hard to find tests of more complex forms of disk arrays based on solid-state drives. This article can be also very useful for companies where fileservers are used to share user data. Based on the result of cost analysis, the company can then decide what type of storage is best for its purpose.
