Nurse´s role in providing care to patients - foreigners
KOUSALOVÁ, Renata
The theme of this thesis is the role of nurse providing care for patients-foreigners. The thesis was divided into two parts. In the theoretical part it dealt with the issue of providing nursing care to patients-foreigners which sought to highlight the roles of sister, their problem situations and state of readiness to care for these patients. They were set three objectives of this work. The first objective was to determine the roles of nurse which are dominant in their care of the patients- foreigners The second objective was to map the problem situations of nurses in providing care to patients foreigners. The last objective was to map the state of readiness of nurses in patient care of patients-foreigners. In the empirical part were set out five hypotheses. The first hypothesis was that the most common role of nurses in patients-foreigners care is the role of nursing care provider. The second hypothesis claimed that the most problem role of nurse in patients-foreigners care was the role of educator. The third hypothesis was that the greatest obstacle in providing nursing care to patients- foreigners is the language barrier. The fourth hypothesis was that the most common problem in providing nursing care to patients- foreigners is a social isolation. The fifth hypothesis was based on the assumption that nurses are theoretically prepared to care for the patients-foreigners. Based on the evaluation of an anonymous questionnaire the first, third and fourth hypothesis is confirmed. On the contrary, the second and the fifth hypothesis were not confirmed. In the first part of the research investigation was used a quantitative data collection method in the form of an anonymous questionnaire for general nurses to hospital beds stations in Hospital in České Budějovice joint-stock company, Hospital Písek joint-stock company, Hospital Strakonice joint stock company and Hospital Tábor joint-stock company. The questionnaire contained 36 closed, semi-open and open questions. In the second part of the research were used descriptive statistical functions. To evaluate statistically significant relationships were used PivotTable (Crosstabs). In total, 300 questionnaires were distributed of which the final research survey used the 226. Survey results were summarized in graphs and tables. Discussions have been confronted with the literature with the expression of the author's own opinion. At the end of the work were given the confirmed and unconfirmed hypotheses and the overall summary of work with possible suggestions to improve the quality of patients-foreigners care.
Interpreter as a part of team in nursing of patient
KASOVÁ, Simona
Abstract: Many foreign-language minorities live in the territory of the Czech Republic; therefore nursing care of other nations in healthcare facilities is not unusual. Mutual communication and understanding influence greatly the quality of nursing care for foreign patients. If a nurse does not know the needs of her foreign patient because of ineffective communication, she is unable to satisfy these needs and thereby provide quality nursing care. This thesis, focusing on topic Interpreter as part of a team taking care of foreign patients, describes, in its theoretical part, the movement of foreigners in the Czech Republic, the principles and elements of intercultural communication for healthcare professionals, interpreters work and involvement in multicultural nursing, and also some interesting facts concerning the communication of certain nationalities. The second part of this thesis consists of quantitative research, which is accompanied by a qualitative survey, through structured interviews with foreigners living in the Czech Republic. The quantitative research was conducted using questionnaires for nurses working in hospitals of South Bohemia. The thesis objective, to identify nurses knowledge needed to ensure a successful and good communication with foreign patients, has been met. Hypotheses for the objective were set as follows: H1 Nurses are already experienced with treating of patients foreigners. H2 Nurses have experiences in communication with members of foreign language minorities. H3 Nurses have some knowledge of the practices of successful communication with foreign patients. H4 Nurses know the contacts to people who they can address if an interpreter is necessary. H5 An interpreter is included in the nursing team treating a foreign patient. On the basis of research results, first two hypotheses have been confirmed; the other hypotheses have not been confirmed by the research. The results of this thesis could serve as an indicator of the need to educate nurses in a multicultural nursing. They could also point out in practice to the suitability of involving an interpreter in a nursing team treating members of foreign-language minorities.
Immigration to the Czech Republic Seen by Members of the Foreing Police in České Budějovice
JELÍNKOVÁ, Vladimíra
The thesis is compiled on the topic ?Immigration to the Czech Republic Seen by Members of the Foreign Police in České Budějovice.? In the theoretical part I focus on the common interpretation of migration, its solutions on the international level and the attitude of the Police of the Czech Republic in relation to national minorities. For the investigation I have chosen the quantitative research using the method of questionning by means of a standardised questionnaire. Research collection was created by the members of the Foreign police in České Budějovice (further ?members?). In total, 90 respondents were questioned. Out of this number, 67 questionnaires were returned, so the rate of the data collection was 74 %. The practical part is focused on the targets and hypotheses of the thesis. The main targets were to find out the opinions of the members on immigration of foreigners and what are their attitudes to integration of foreigners into the society. Hypothesis 1 presupposed that the members see the form of voluntary returns of foreigners´ home positively. Hypothesis 2 presupposed that the members´ negative opinion on not obeying law by foreigners prevails. Hypotheses were statistically tested and proved. The project of voluntary returns of foreigners to their home country is evaluated as a positive way of enabling the journey home from the following reasons: unfavourable economical conditions and the loss of the stay objective in the Czech Republic. Opinions of the members show that the foreigners do not obey law as a result of downfall of the traditional cultural minority norms and values, imperfect integration to majoritarian society and the following isolation. It is necessary to inform the members on the problems of immigration, integration and discrimination prevention in the form of training and seminars. The results of my thesis might be used for the comparison of following investigations in the field of foreigners´ integration into the Czech society and might create the base for the following investigations on the problems.
The national structure of players of Czech national basketball league since year 1998 and its impact on basketball in the Czech Republic\\
BUBÁK, Jiří
The diploma thesis studies the evolution of the national structure of players in the highest Czech basketball league, the `Extraliga{\crq}, between seasons 1998/1999 and 2008/2009. This research is based on analysis of technical registers from individual games. The author splits the studied sample of players into three groups (Czech players aged 20+, foreign players and Czech players below 20 years of age) and evaluates statistical characteristics by virtue of the comparative method. These include the number of players, minutes played, points scored and a coefficient of usefulness. The results confirm the expected increase of the number of foreign players as well as their continuously growing impact on the game. In contrast to this, the trend of participation and usefulness of Czech players under 20 years is shown to be diminishing. Both the hypotheses of the thesis are therefore proven valid. The presented work further utilizes the analysis of references in several directions, namely it points to existing basketball youth centres in the Czech Republic, warns against the diminishing member base of this sport, highlights the change in trend of evolution of imposed limits on the number of foreign players in Extraliga and finally discusses some of the current issues of Czech basketball.

Problems of the stay, illegal migration and criminality of foreigners in South Bohemia after entrance of the Czech republic to Schengen area.
ŠKOLKA, Michael
In the face of the Czech Republic becoming the central country of the Schengen Area, the situation in the field of legal and illegal migration has undergone considerable changes. Taking people over the state border has disappeared; however, some forms of migration have remained or even expanded. Today, the organisers of illegal migration use the Czech Republic more like a transit country. They now turned to ``more legal techniques{\crqq}, such as getting some types of visas (studying, work etc.), obtaining a residence permit based on fictitious weddings or established paternity to a Czech citizen, inviting personal or corporate entities and migrating by using false or altered personal documents. Creating effective policies and measures is essential in fighting against illegal migration. The EU member countries should focus on efficient returning of the illegally residing third world{\crq}s citizens, importantly by intensifying the cooperation with the countries of origin and transit. Furthermore, toughening the sanctions on employers who illegally take advantage of cheep workforce particularly from the Eastern bloc is also vital. Additionally, it is necessary to concentrate on integration of the foreigners in the social area as well as the economic one. The top-priority task should be using their original skills in their country of origin, with the secondary positive being the elimination of illegal employment in those several areas where the local workforce is deficient, resulting in foreigners being employed there without the necessary knowledge and work experience. Regarding the question of criminality of foreigners, I can see a solution in preventive measures as far as individuals are concerned and repressive measures where the organised crime is concerned. Since it is often a matter of mafias and dangerous criminal elements, rigorous activity of the police and relevant authorities is essential in order to eliminate this severe criminal activity. On the subject of the prevention of foreigner criminality, I would recommend a complex of social and situation measures, with the aim to decrease criminality, involving the problematic groups of foreigners to the life of the majority society and increasing the general public{\crq}s awareness about the methods of protection from criminal activities. The social prevention should, however, be joined by other units, particularly nongovernmental non-profit organizations, civil initiatives, companies, media and the town{\crq}s citizens themselves.
