ABSTRACABSTRACABSTRACABSTRACTTTT The present bachelor thesis comprises of two main parts - the translation from Czech to English and the subsequent commentary. The translated text is an essay by the American journalist Michael Pollan entitled Unhappy Meals, which deals with the area of healthy nutrition and lifestyle. In the commentary the source text is analyzed based on Christiane Nord's model, and the translation method is determined. This part of the thesis also deals with translation shifts which ocurred during the translation process and describes some particular translation problems.
