Figure portrayal in Czech painting of the second third of the 19 century in European context
Řezáč, Jan ; Prahl, Roman (advisor) ; Petrasová, Taťána (referee) ; Machalíková, Pavla (referee)
In my Ph.D. thesis I suggest methodological approach to the figural painting of the middle of the 19 century, creation of the Czech painter Josef Manes in particular. In this period figural artists still learned to copy historic models in both academic and non-academic institutions. But the figure starts to be also presented as identifying element of the society, newly establishing nations in particular. Also emancipation of artists and their effort for conceptual expression (self-representation) is reflected in the presented figural form. Painting of the late romanticism is characterised by adoptions of Michelangelo's and manieristic way of portrayal of human body. Thus there is a remarkable shift from so far popular classical Raffaelo's renaissance figure. For Josef Manes, usually only graphic patterns were available. In this thesis I also analyse Manes's anthropomorfisations and his tendencies to deform anatomic proportions of depicted figures. I show that these features of Manes's art have social, mental and formal background. I aimed to find interpretations of Manes' artistic approach, probably influenced by ideas from Munich, Dresden, Vienna and Düsseldorf. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Country motives in art work of Václav Brožík
Hervertová, Kristýna ; Bendová, Eva (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is an examination of Václav Brožík's rural motifs, which he created mainly in the 1990s. In the first part I will try to summarize the artist's life, which was rich in patrons, study trips but above all his acquaintance with the Parisian environment. The second matter to be discussed, related to the Brochure, will be an analysis of the Barbizon School with its main representatives. I will later compare how the Barbizon School reflected on Brožík's works based on the connections with Millet and Courbet. I will discuss Brožík's rural themes in four parts.Whether Ideal withthe themes of communication, couples, lonelinessor themaleelement in the paintings, I will try to look behind the painting and try to explain why he depicted these themes. I will compare Brožík's rural depiction of paintings in the last chapter, where I will reflect and compare Brožík's works with other artists - both domestic and foreign - who created the same rural themes.
The puppet theater building in the center of Opava
Barteková, Ester ; Štěpán, Marek (referee) ; Sládeček, Svatopluk (advisor)
The building of the puppet theatre in the centre of Opava is significant for its location and function. One of my goals was therefore to create a building with a distinctive character that will serve as a symbol of the entranceway to the city centre. As it encroaches on the land on which the Silesian Theatre building stands, my aim was to help this theatre in its design and to improve the condition of its not entirely satisfactory operating space. Outside the performance space, the theatre events create an opportunity for discussion, for sharing ideas that have no place in the normal daily routine. The project appeals to promote the aspect of perceiving the theatre as a modern agora.
Fragile Future
Jedličková, Eliška ; Sobotka, Jiří (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
Fragility, variability, immateriality... In my final master's thesis, I focused on the theme of fragility and shadow in visual art. I directed my initial idea towards the motif of fragility and transience. It's a topic that has interested me for quite some time. Where are the boundaries of fragility? How can the perception of this concept differ for each of us? Fragility can be understood as a certain material property, but also as an internal matter. In connection with this theme, I decided to work with shadow, which, for me, is in many ways fragile, elusive, variable, and has no material essence, real nature, or form. I thus chose to work with aesthetic and spiritual phenomena.
The Case
Svobodová, Hana ; Šrek Bromová, Veronika (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
I assume huddled topic that I put into my past work as well as in final work. Casting my body, which is covered with feathers and create a cocoon of him, husk without the interior. Sculpture has two sides, the principle of duality, femininity and counterpart. Outer packaging evokes pleasant birdlike body surface and in the inner part aggressively squeeze ends of the wicks feathers.

The statue is the result of interest in the topic of mystery and its sculptural representation. The statue is a combination of materials, mostly it consists of fiberglass and polyester.
Movement of the human body
Havelková, Gabriela ; Gebauer, Kurt (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
All through my bachelor's studies, I chose random subjects on single or not single subjects, and as I contemplated my selections in retrospect, I discovered connections between them that were not intended. I've learned that my entire work so far has been laced with the evolution of my personality, my emotions, in certain elements. My inner struggle is evident here. ...the subjects of my works were chosen random without any discernible emotional subtext, but still when I look at them, I see sculptures depicting my inner emotional development.
Obstacles in life
Jedličková, Eliška ; Sobotka, Jiří (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
In my bachelor's thesis, I decided to devote my study to the field of sports, the personality of the athlete and especially his psyche. I am interested in connecting the inner feeling of the athlete and the given movement, which in my interpretation, is jumping over an obstacle. I don´t want to point out and portray the realistic, perfectly shaped body of the athlete, but I want to portray the inner feelings, dynamics, mechanicalness and disturbed concentration, which should be embodied by the individual segments.
