The political role of FC Barcelona in modern Catalonia

This bachelor's degree thesis deals with the political role of FC Barcelona in modern Catalonia a its reaction to the 2017 independence referendum. The timeline of the work is from the year 2012 till 2017. The main data is gathered from the club's online media and other international media. The beginning chapters consist of nationalism and nationalism in sport and then its connection to football. It is followed by a quick political review of Catalonia in the analysed years and the relationship between FC Barcelona and Catalonia throughout history. The thesis focuses on relation between an apolitical subject such as a football club and a stateless region and its role in the independence fight. The result is that the club stands in a neutral position towards politics, but it works with many other organisations with the aim of spreading the Catalan culture and overall situation worldwide. The fans of the club with their nationalistic flags also spread the fight with the help of televised matches. FC Barcelona supported the referendum but without favouring any side. This neutral stance towards politics is described only as a defence of democracy and the freedom of speech. These are the values the club showed throughout its history and now swears to continue in the same way.

Master's thesis "Franco years in Spain through El Clásico: FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid" explores the football rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona teams during the franquismo. The theme of Real Madrid, understood as a team supported and promoted by the Spanish regime is prevailing throughout the paper. Another part describes deep cultural symbolism of FC Barcelona in Catalonian region. The last part unites those two subjects by explaining how their rivalry or El Clásico games, were more than just a match of football. Emotional attachments, political manifestations and historical differences always prevailed throughout their matches.

The aim of the thesis "Communication activities of the sports club FC Barcelona in 2009- 2011" was to describe and analyze the main elements within the marketing communications causing the fact that FC Barcelona is one of the most valuable brands in the area of European football clubs. The technique of the process is description. I analyze the main reasons of the popularity of sport itself and furthermore I describe each part of the club's marketing mix - product, place, price and promotion. The club's history and its mythology are the most important descriptions of the organization, because the values and brand identity naturally evolve from it. I attempt to introduce social and political overlap of a sports club, in the Czech environment unparalleled. In the analysis of tools of promotion, I mainly focused on online marketing, which can reach the whole world. In addition, separate chapters are devoted to sponsorship, which is crucial in sports marketing, and the Foundation FC Barcelona, through which the club exercises its corporate social responsibility.
Financování vybraných fotbalových klubů v kontextu působnosti pravidel Financial Fair Play

Abrahámek, P. Financing of chosen football clubs in the context of the Financial Fair Play rules. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2014. The bachelor thesis is focused on the financing issues of chosen football clubs in Europe. The chosen clubs are the English Chelsea FC, Spanish FC Barcelona, Ger-man Borussia Dortmund, and Italian Juventus FC. In the theoretical part, I describe the Financial Fair Play rules and related eco-nomic indicators used in the practical part. The practical part deals with the com-parison of financing of the chosen football clubs on the basis of the economic indicators, before and after the application of the Financial Fair Play rules. I involve also an evaluation of the fulfillment of the Financial Fair Play conditions by the football clubs. Economic indicators used in the thesis are incomes, costs, profits, and wages per incomes.
