Strategic Narratives in Sino-European Relations

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the presentation of strategic narratives by various European Union (EU) institutions towards the People's Republic of China (PRC), with a particular focus on developments between 2012 and 2022. The core of the research was an analysis of EU strategy and foreign policy documents on China. The aim is not only to identify different EU strategic narratives towards the PRC, but also to analyse how these narratives envisage EU-China strategic engagement, how they evolve over time, how they differ across institutions, and what the dynamics of different narratives within EU institutions are. The first part of the thesis provides the context of current Chinese and European narratives and explains the theoretical and methodological framework used. The second (main) part of the thesis is an analysis of EU policy communications on China. The key finding is that there are inconsistencies and sometimes even contradictions between the narratives used by different EU institutions, and that there is no single vision for EU-China strategic engagement. The evolution of each narrative over time has also been very different. Such inconsistency hampers the EU's efforts to present a coherent strategic approach vis-à-vis China. The bachelor thesis is evaluating developmental tendencies of agricultural foreign trade of the Czech republic after joining the European Union. It is focused on analyzing of agricultural trade of the Czech republic and judgement of its overall dynamic as well as development of territorial and commodity structure and also identification of product group which expel comparative advantage or disadvantage towards integrated trade of the European Union. For construction of the analysis was used the CZSO database.

Vývoj protiteroristické politiky EU v období 2001-2011

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the development of counterterrorism policy of the European Union after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and with the overall capture of the EU´s position on terrorism during the first decade of these attacks. Within the selected period, it focuses on developments following the most significant attacks of this decade - Madrid (2004) and London (2005), analyzing the main differences in responses to attacks committed outside and within the EU. The main purpose of the thesis is to capture the EU's attitude towards the terrorist threat in the chosen period, based on the analysis of adopted anti-terrorist tools. In the end, the thesis compares the EU approach to counterterrorism with the US approach as a global anti-terrorist actor and main EU´s security partner.

This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of corruption over the economic growth of member states of the European Union. The thesis describes the evolution of economic growth and the climate of corruption, the institutional environment, and a fight against the corruption in the European Union. The analysis of the influence of corruption over the economic growth with help of multiple regression in the panel data set is used in order to reach the goal of the thesis. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes all findings, and the possible recommendation of limiting the corruption within the European Union is proposed.

European companies - process of establishment and their place in the economy of the EU member states

This bachelor thesis focuses on process of establishment of the European Companies and their impact on the economy of the EU Member States. The thesis is divided to two parts. First part describes the genesis of the idea of the European Company, their legal ascpects and the process of their establishment. The second part analyse the position of these companies on the European market. The end of the thesis contains the evaluation of the market analysis and the prediction of future development.

The aim of the bachelor thesis is the comparison of regulation in banking sector in the United States of America and the European Union. In two consecutive chapters is discussed in detail the regulation in the European Union, where new institution of banking union was established, and subsequently in the United States of America. In conclusion of the thesis are compared the forms of banking regulation in these formations.

European attitudes towards 'Belt and Road' initiative: new chinese soft power mechanism?

China’s rise raised negative emotions within the international area. China makes an effort to rebrand the country’s image through soft power and position itself as a responsible and attractive international partner. This thesis aims to shed light on European perception towards China’s global project Belt and Road Initiative, mainly how BRI is perceived in the EU through media analysis and how BRI contributed to the improvement of Chinese soft power. The primary objective of this research is to find an answer what is the EU perception towards Belt and Road Initiative and how has BRI contributed to the improvement of China’s soft power. The theoretical part defines the European perception of China in the framework of the EU-China relations. In this context, the global phenomenon BRI is defined. This description of the actions of the ground addresses to narrative what new brought BRI into the image of China. The practical part deals with media discourse analysis in selected countries. More than six hundred articles related to BRI were analysed.
