Reevaluation of Mao Zedong and the Cultural Revolution after 1978

This paper's aim is to observe how leaders of the Chinese Communist Party who came into power after Mao Zedong's death deal with his legacy and how they evaluated his role in Chinese history. The author will analyze the primary sources of the document entitled "Resolution on certain questions in the history of our party since the founding of the People's Republic of China" and speeches made by top leaders of Communist Party of China. Obtained findings are put into historical context using literature on the given topic. The last chapter of the present paper focuses on the question as to whether the conclusions made by the resolution are still relevant in modern China.
