Optical Wavelength Division Multiplex
Kavický, Martin ; Křepelka, Václav (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is orientated to problems about optical networks and possibilities of transmision more than one optical mode trough single fibre. Components, which create optical path, are described there. I was concerned with kinds of fiber couplers, optical multipexors and demultiplexers, proper souces and receivers of optical radiation, possible optical amplifiers and in not least turn single types of wavelenght division multiplexing. In practical part I propose possible ways of verification of activity of wavelenght division multiplexing and optical path components, as is EDFA amplifier, or circulator. As insertion of thesis, I created concept of active task, in which will students meat with meassuring optical power after way through EDFA amplifier, which they will tune.
Verification of parameters of passive optical components on short wavelengths
Látal, Michal ; Filka, Miloslav (referee) ; Vojtěch, Josef (advisor)
Semestral thesis deals with the basic theoretical knowledge in the field of optics, light propagation and optical fibers. It describes in detail the optical transmission system and its associated issues, such as the attenuation of optical fibers or differently caused dispersion. The main part of this work is a description of each passive optical elements, their production technologies and applications in optical communications. Within the optical connection its radiation sources and detectors of optical radiation are explained. The last practical part is focused on the measurement of insertion loss provided by passive optical components.
Cascade model of power lines for PLC
Dziura, Michal ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Mišurec, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis is dealing with data transmission over the electric network. It describes PLC technology, its properties, and elements used in this type of network. The important part of this thesis is discussion over the mathematical model of distribution network with two-port cascades. Transmission functions created according to mathematical model were compared with each other. Thesis was concluded with observation of the impact of interconnected parts on transmission function of designed branched conductor. Final results were processed by Matlab and compared with each other.
Sensor based on a fiber optic interferometer
Rozsypal, Filip ; Dejdar, Petr (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with comparsion of 2x2 and 3x3 couplers. There is also description of issue of the Michelson interferometer and its use as a sensor. This sensor is very good at detecting vibrations. Part of the work is description of simulation of Michelson interferometer with 3x3 coupler as vibration sensor and localization of vibration on optical fiber by Michelson and Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
Simulation of fiber-optic components for fiber optic sensors
Jakoubek, Petr ; Urban, František (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the function of commonly used elements among optical network, with an emphasis on fiber optic sensors. The basics of optical transmission and types of fibers are described, in addition to active and passive optical components, optical splitters and couplers. Optical fiber sensors are divided in two groups: intrinsic and extrinsic. Interferometric types of sensors are described in detail. The thesis compares theoretical assumptions and practical measurements of two serially-connected couplers. A~new module fulfilling real optical coupler function was made using Matlab. This module can be implemented into the VPIphotonics library. Finally, interferometric function of two serially-connected couplers was tested.
Measurement of basic parameters of optical and optoelectronic components
Beneš, Pavel ; Látal, Michal (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with optical and optoelecronic components. The first part of the work describes the optical paths and methods of their measurement. The second part describes the coupler, circulator and isolator. Further described is a laser diode, a photodetector and a modulator. The third part describes the measurement procedure of the coupler, circulator, isolator, laser diode, photodetector and modulator. The measured values are compared with the catalog values.
Design and realisation of microwave directional coupler
Nejedlý, Miroslav ; Motl, Milan (referee) ; Dvořák, Radek (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with microwave directional coupler. The paper presents some of the microwave directional coupler and an analysis of bifurcations. The paper also discussed the various techniques of bifurcations and the bandwidth to which they are making. Proposal is implemented in two selected directional couplers and determining their size. They also performed using the selected simulation program selected two bifurcations. Furthermore, these couplers are made on the perimeter of the analyzer is verified by their actions and are verified by the actual parameters of the coupler.
Simulation of Mach Zehnder interferometer
Rozsypal, Filip ; Münster, Petr (referee) ; Čučka, Milan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the simulations of Mach-Zehnder and Michelson interferometer. These simulations are realized by VPIphotoncs and MatLab. The thesis also describes the optical and physical phenomena, the usage and the principle of operation of interferometers and results of measurements with validation of the basic work of both interferometers.
Design of a BPL modem with an ethernet interface
Malček, Ladislav ; Rusz, Martin (referee) ; Musil, Petr (advisor)
The task of the master thesis is the review of selected module PLC Stamp 1200, which provides data communication via power-lines. Subject of the first part is description of PLC communication and its types, especially BPL communication. Afterwards transmission lines, communication interfaces and couplers for injecting the signal into the lines are described. Next, general procedure of design printed circuit boards is presented, followed by specific application rules for prototype BPL modem, especially for RMII and RGMII interfaces. In the second part the design of printed circuit boards for BPL modem is presented. Next, the results of measurement of modem prototype and final device is provided. In the last part of the master thesis, there is a design and results of testing of noise coupler for injection of noise into transmission lines. This device is used for BPL modem testing in worsened conditions.
Evaluation of broadband couplers for noise injection into powerlines.
Malček, Ladislav ; Musil, Petr ; Mlýnek, Petr
This paper deals with the problem of coupling noise into the transmission power line. The main goal is development of device which can effectively inject noise into transmission lines. This device will be used for testing industrial or commercial-used BPL (Broadband Powerline) modems and their ability to communicate under certain conditions. In the first part, there is an overview of coupler types. Next, the appropriate type was chosen according to required qualities. PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design of final device was developed on the principle of capacitive coupler. In the end, final PCB design was tested with several combinations of magnetic coils and capacitors.
