This research paper summarizes legal regulation regarding Environmental Impact Assessment in the Czech Republic and Commonwealth of Australia. Both these countries recently enacted amendments to the current regulation or taken steps to implement changes of this process in order to make it more efficient in term of costs of the proceedings and also in terms of more quality protection of the environment. This bachelor thesis provides information about the economic development of Australia, with an emphasis on the first decade of the 21st century. The first part of the paper introduces the historical development of the Australian economy from the first European settlement for microeconomic reform in the late 20th century. The second chapter focuses on the current Australian economy, explains why Australia was not in a technical recession in 2009 and provides a SWOT analysis of Australia. The third part describes current Czech-Australian trade relations and potential deeper cooperation between these two countries.
