Care for children with autism spectrum disorder from the perspective of their parents

Key words: autism, autism spectrum disorder, informal caregivers, parents, children with autism spectrum disorder, care, education Abstract: The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out how parents of children with autism spectrum disorder reflect this fact. The theoretical part defines the autism spectrum disorders which are Infantile Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Atypical Autism, Rett Syndrome and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. The next chapter focuses on the process of coping with the diagnosis, describing its stages and coping and escape strategies. The next chapter describes the family with a child with autism spectrum disorder and the quality of life of families with a child with PAS. At the end of the theoretical section, the specifics of informal care and its negative consequences and benefits are defined. The practical part includes a description of the qualitative methodology and the second half of the paper presents an analysis of the research results. In the practical part I examined the following specific topics: diagnosis, reactions of the environment, coming to terms with the diagnosis, care, communication, education, improvement of the child's condition, siblings, negatives, positives, comparison of children with PAS and healthy children.
