The Development of the agrarian party in the oeriod of the Firsz Czechoslovak Republic

The Bachelor's thesis focuses on the development of Czech, later Czechoslovak Agrarian Party. The thesis describes the background of the Agrarian Party and its gradual boom before the establishment of Czechoslovakia. The Party's founders and first political leaders from the second half of the 19th century are mentioned. The thesis also describes the Agrarian Party's attitude during the First World War and the establishment of Czechoslovakia. However, the thesis emphasizes mainly the Party's political activity during the First Czechoslovak Republic in 1918-1935. Furthermore, it describes results of elections from 1920 to 1935 and discusses the formation and activities of government coalitions. The text provides an overview of agrarian politicians in the highest governmental functions who made important political decisions. The thesis deals with the gradual development of the Party during the First Republic and also its internal conflicts. It describes Party congresses and organizational rise of the Party. Moreover, it illustrates the Party's attitudes towards other political parties or presidents of the Republic. The Origin of the Constitution 1920

and key words This thesis is dealing with the foundation of the first Czechoslovakian constitution from 1920 and focusing on the role of Antonín Švehla in the process itself. The introductory parts dissert on the role of Antonín Švehla as an agrarian politician - his politics in the period before the formation of the Czechoslovakian Republic and consequently his politics during the first three years of the function of the new state. The next chapters analyze the actual foundation and acceptation of the constitution in 1920. In my thesis, I am concerned with an unofficial negotiation of constitution, the progress of the work of the constitutional Committee and the consequential discussion about constitutional model in the Revolutionary national assembly. I have chosen a procedure of working with a particular thematic aspects of the constitution and not the constitution as a complex. This method helps to highlight the friction between the concept of the constitution and Švehla's ideas. The chapters dealing with the constitution are ended by the evaluation of the content. The thesis ends up with the analysis of the role of Švehla as a politicial who worked on the creation of the constitution. Antonín Švehla and the Czech Catholics in the period of the first republic

This thesis deals with the relation between the agrarian politician Antonín Švehla and a catholic party in the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic. This work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is The Introduction including the aim of this work and the most important sources used by creating this work. The second chapter is structured in five other subheads and is called The Personality of Antonín Švehla. There is presented the life of this important agrarian, his political influence, the characterization of all three governments, in which he was the prime minister and his party's victory in parliamentary elections in 1925. The third chapter called Antonín Švehla's relation to catholicism is divided in four subheads. The core of this chapter is to analyse Švehla's views on religion, his relation to political catholicism, to catholic personalities and to Šrámek's Czechoslovak People's Party. The last chapter is The Conclusion which summarizes the main contribution of the thesis.
