Comprehensive Trade Agreement between Asymmetric Partners
Classen, Lennart Peter ; Paulus, Michal (advisor) ; Semerák, Vilém (referee)
Free Trade Agreements and particularly Asymmetric ones have been discussed controversially for several decades now. The Latin American region has increased their efforts to integrate their economies in the international arena. The Andean Community being a customs union in Latin America signed a Free Trade Agreement with the European Union in 2013. Being an asymmetric trade deal, this thesis examined whether it has resulted in trade creation and trade diversion effects already. Looking at the results, I can clearly reject the notion of negative effects as a consequence of the trade agreement. Considering the entire, but also the agricultural and manufactured economic sectors, I found statistically significant trade creation effects. Concerning trade diversion effects, the results were not statistically significant and additional research in the future seems required. Husáková, Gabriela ; Kučerová, Irah (advisor) ; Karlas, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of different efficiency between two integrational organizations in Latin America: Andean Community, and Union of South American Nations, by using neoliberal theory of international relations to examine he causes as to why the Andean Community is more efficient than the Union of South American Nations. First, the theoretical definition of neoliberal theory and the concept of cooperation problems are discussed. Then, follow chapters describing integration in Latin America, in general with all its characteristics, and a chapter describing history and basic institutional settings of the two organizations. In the practical part, each cooperation problem is either applied to the organizations and a relation between these problems and institutional setting, number of member states, and homogeneity between member states is examined. In the conclusion, the all three cooperational problems are brought together to determine, whether the main cause of different efficiency is the institutional setting and number of member states, or the homogeneity between members.

Vyskočilová, Hana ; Adamcová, Lenka (advisor) ; Honajzrová Banús, Shirley C. (referee)
The history of regional initiatives in Latin America is very rich and varied. Immediately after declaration of independence, there was a tendency to form a political union. Integration groupings developed in the twentieth century are trying with various success rate to enhance mutual trade and political ties in the region. These efforts can be divided into two periods, the first, the old regionalism, from the early sixties to the debt crisis in the eighties and the second period, the new regionalism from the turn of the eighties and nineties. The object of this work is to draw a comparison between these regionalistic trends in Latin America - old and new regionalism - and be exampled by integration group. As the best example to compare the regionalistic trends was chosen: the Andean Pact (the Andean Community of Nations).

Řiháková, Veronika ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Krč, Jakub (referee)
The objective is to identify attitudes of two Latin Americas' integration groupings - MERCOSUR and Andean Community - and their members to the Free Trade Area of Americas. The groupings take different attitudes to FTAA - MERCOSUR with its leader Brazil fights againts creation of the FTAA, on the contrary, two members of the Andean community signed the free trade agreements with USA. Briefly I characterize the groupings, its members (Brazil, Colombia and Peru), trade bindings and I try to identify the strategic sectors of economy that play an important role in the decision making process about creation of the FTAA.
