The benefit of patient triage in pre-hospital care and in the emergency department
VOPÁLENSKÁ, Karolína
The Bachelor thesis on "The benefit of patient triage in pre-hospital care and in the emergency department" is divided into two parts. The first part, theoretical, deals with emergency admissions, their types and functioning, pre-hospital care, ambulance service, triage, its history, trauma centers and contemporary triage methods used around the world. The practical part is ranked second and is devoted to research on the 3 identified main objectives of this work. The first objective was to see differences between the triage of patients in pre-hospital care and in the emergency department. The second objective was to evaluate current triage methods and their impact on the quality of care provided. And the third objective was to see how the healthcare workers working in the emergency department and ambulance service perceive the patient triage. To achieve the results a qualitative form of investigation using a semi-structured interview was used. This one contained 10 open questions. The research file consisted of 9 respondents from the ranks of paramedics and general nurses. An emergency department was selected in the Vysočina Region, from which 2 respondents responded, and the Vysočina Region Emergency Medical Service, where 2 respondents also responded. Furthermore, the research was carried out on emergencydepartment in the South Bohemia Region, where 2 respondents also responded, and 3 respondents responded from the South Bohemian Region Emergency Medical Service. The results of the work show the view of selected healthcare professionals on current triage methods, an evaluation of their functioning and suggestions for modifications. In addition to fulfill the objectives of the work and answering research questions, the work may also provide information on the perception of triage methods by emergency workers and emergency services.

The needs of callers to the emergency number 155 in the event of an acute deterioration of the condition of a patient with an advanced incurable, life-threatening or life-shortening disease
Brýdlová, Helena ; Bosá, Monika (advisor) ; Mertl, Jiří (referee)
The graduation thesis looks at the interconnection of parts of the health and social systems in areas that are linked by palliative care. The palliative care patient, and with them the informal carer, uses different trajectories through the health and social systems, looking for moments that are empowering or, conversely, limiting in good practice in the delivery of palliative care. The theoretical part looks at the different areas of the health and social care system, which should work very closely together and be intertwined, but it turns out that even the separate disciplines have their shortcomings, making it even more difficult to link these systems together. The aim of the theoretical part is to introduce the different segments in the social and health fields, with a link to palliative care. The aim of the empirical part was to investigate, through qualitative research, the reasons for relatives or close friends of the patient (i.e., informal caregivers) to call the emergency medical services (EMS) for their loved ones who were terminally ill, to identify their needs. The resulting findings led to two outcomes from a social and a health care perspective. From the social perspective, the importance of engaging communication and how information is delivered to informal caregivers and supporting...
The work of Paramedic from perspective of patients
PETRLÁK, Jakub
The initial part of this bachelor thesis gives a brief survey of the history of emergency medical services. The following section deals with paramedic education and the possibilities of further paramedic education, whether in the form of a follow-up master's degree or further specialization after graduation from university. Attention is also given to individual character traits of paramedics and the prerequisites for this profession. I explore the various types of difficulties paramedics may encounter during their professional careers. I also deal with the negative effects of the profession on the paramedics in the form of burnout syndrome and its phases. The aims of this thesis include finding out how patients generally perceive the work of paramedics, whether patients have possibly gained negative experience in contact with paramedics and also how the patients' views of this profession were affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. For the research part, qualitative research was chosen, using semi-structured interviews consisting of 15 questions. Five respondents were chosen for research in this thesis, with regard to their age and education. Data collection took place in February and March 2022. Before starting the research, the respective respondents were contacted and asked whether they agreed to participate. They were informed in advance that their personal data would not be disclosed. Following their consent, their interviews were recorded on a voice recorder. After conversion into written text files, the original recordings were deleted. After the research has been completed and the collected data processed, I came to the conclusion that all the initial research questions were answered and the research goals were met. I have found that, except for a few situations, the view of the ambulance service and paramedic work is generally positive. In one of the five cases, the negative experience of paramedic work was prompted mainly by the crew's behaviour, not by an impression that the crew did not know what to do. The research also revealed that the paramedic profession is associated mainly with ambulance service, rather than hospital emergency departments or anaesthesiology and resuscitation departments.

KOTYZA, Michal
The bachelor thesis is focused on historical progress of Helicopter emergency service (HEMS) in Czech Republic. This work is focused especially on comparing of historical and actual progress of HEMS in Vysočina region, including comparing of the airplane technology and accessories extensity of helicopters used for HEMS in Vysočina. The first chapter is focused on leveraging of a helicopter marginally, as a device for saving life in the world, when they were used flatly in M.A.S.H (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) units especially in the Korea war. It also contains progress of HEMS in Czechoslovakia and study of HEMS historical analysis at territory of the Czech Republic and progress of companies, which were spreading these services since 1987. I have included progress on the Czech Republic territory only in this work. In bachelor thesis are mentioned present national (Armáda CR, Policie CR) and private practitioners (DSA, a.s. and Alfa-Helicopter, spol. s.r.o.) as well, including main practitioners, which were operating here on the beginning (Slov-Air and Bel-Air) and thanks to them it was possible to lay the foundations of HEMS in prehospital emergency care system in the Czech Republic. The second chapter is focused on sequential progress of particular HEMS centres in the Czech Republic. In the face of mutual progress of HEMS at Czechoslovakia territory, is this part focused only on historical progress in the Czech Republic after year 1987. Hereby are only included HEMS centers at Praha (Kryštof 01), Brno (Kryštof 04), Ostrava (Kryštof 05), Hradec Králové (Kryštof 06), Plzeň (Kryštof 07), Olomouc (Kryštof 09), Jihlava (Kryštof 12), České Budějovice (Kryštof 13), Ústí nad Labem (Kryštof 15), Havlíčkův Brod (Kryštof 17) a Liberec (Kryštof 18). In the research part I have focused on examination of people's attitudes, which are interested in HEMS, ambulance services and more people, who are connected with prehospital emergency care system. For achieve results, I have decided to make a research by Brainwriting method, when I requested for completing a questionnaire, by aforementioned group of people, which contains questions focused on this topic. Questions are headed on problems of actual and historical progress of HEMS in the Czech Republic with the link on estimation of this problem on Vysočina. The chapter of discussion is focused on more detailed progress of HEMS in Vysočina region. There is marginally analysed HEMS in Havlíčkův Brod, which existed from the year 1991 to 1994. Considering minimal measure of taken information about it, this passage isn't written more detailed. In the next point I focused on HEMS in Jihlava, which has been working on Vysočina region from 1991. Considering sufficient measure of taken information and very accommodating attitudes of respondents and employees working at HEMS, I have analysed historical progress of this centre more detailed and in some parts, I have made comparing with actual status. I briefly focused on the history of the base, where I involved the most important milestones, which went along with their progress. One of the points, which I focused on, is background of the ambulance outpost where sequential upgrading of the base and its surroundings for employees are analysed. In the next points are foreshadowed differences of used helicopters and its history at HEMS centres, including accessories as a medical material or the other devices used in rescue operations as Toughbook for example. In the last point is foreshadowed structure of the crew in HEMS centre. The end of this work is focused on answers of asked research question, if the helicopter emergency service is necessary and useful branch of emergency service.
