The Depiction of Apollo on Baroque murals The theme of the diploma thesis is the depiction of Apollo in Baroque frescoes. The figure of the antique God of Sun appears in our country most often in Baroque residences in several different themes. Apollo with his sun chariot is closely connected with the solar theme - due to its location in space, it refers us to the daily cyclicality. Apollo with his sun chariot, same as Aurora symbolizes an allegory of the arrival of a new day. We most often find this theme in halls and staircases, but also in Sala terrena. Specific examples can be seen, for example, in Náměšť nad Oslavou, where Apollo announces a new day, or in Slavkov u Brna where we find several paintings connected with daily cyclicality, and in the Sale terrain in Děčín as an example of outdoor decoration. Some rulers also identified with the god Apollo, so his figure is also present in some frescoes celebrating his client. We meet such an example in the Clam-Gallas Palace in Prague or in the Hall of the Ancestors of the chateau in Vranov nad Dyjí. Apollo with the Muses presents a celebration of art. Neoclassical Architecture in Bohemia - Examples of Kačina at Kutná Hora and Nový zámek in Kostelec nad Orlicí. A comparison of buildings and builders

MICHÁLKOVÁ, Petra. Neoclassical Architecture in Bohemia - Examples of Kačina at Kutná Hora and Nový zámek in Kostelec nad Orlicí. A comparison of buildings and builders. Prague, 2020. Bachelors thesis. Charles University. Faculty of Education. My thesis deals with the topic of classicism in Bohemia using two using two particular examples of castles. In the first chapter, in the context of historical events, I place the concept of classicism, which I try to distinguish from the concept of the empire style and neoclassicism. I also deal with different developments in individual countries and how they influenced architecture in Bohemia. In the following part, I focus on specific buildings in Kačina near Kutná Hora and the New Castle in Kostelec nad Orlicí, where I will firstly describe the aristocratic families that owned the buildings. The analyse of the ideas that led to the building of the mansion follows, and then I move on to the architecture of the buildings. In the conclusions of these chapters I state what fate the building met and what their present state looks like. The last chapter is a comparison of buildings and builders. The Mediaeval Noble Residences on the Boundary of the South and Middle Bohemia Regions (The Castle Selmberk/Schallenberg and it´s Archaeological Research of 2006

The handed-in thesis is divided in two parts. The first part is focused on the problems of residences in a limited area on the connected line of the towns: Veselí nad Lužnicí in the south, Bechyně in the southwest, Milevsko in the west, Sedlec - Prčice in the northwest, Votice in the north, Načeradec in the northeast and Chýnov in the east. It tries to give a survey of evolution and typology of particular noble and royal residences in the above mentioned area (archaeological findings, written sources, available bibliography). The second part deals with the material culture of the Šelmberk Castle acquired at the archaeological research in 2006. The aim of this part is analysis, synthesis and interpretation of stratified findings which were obtained from four archaeological excavations with a various amount of layers. Another part of the thesis is maps, charts as well as a depiction of particular findings including photo documentation.
