Hánková, Anna ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Přibyl, Ivan (referee)
The thesis deals with the history of ski jumping in the area of the Czech Republic. Based on the available sources it presents a concise description of the development of skiing and ski jumping, not only in the Czech lands but also in the countries where these sports originated. Through subsequent study it proceeds to focus on key points in the historical transformation of ski jumping. The thesis deals with the construction of jumping hills, measuring the length of a ski jump and its scoring as well as the ski jumping technique. The thesis also maps the Czech regions where the ski jumping has been practiced traditionally, more thoroughly focusing on the most important centres today, namely Harrachov, Liberec and Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. In the end the thesis introduces selected representatives of the Czech ski jumping sport, both of the glorious past and the present.
